Nightshade and Freya blinked their sympathy, then darted out after Sabela.
Carolina nodded, understanding. "Lead the way." She whispered softly, licking his cheek once more.
Fireflight allowed a few tears to slip out for the dearest alpha, but stepped back to let family and closer friends mourn before her. She was deeply troubled by this sudden demise, and even more irritated with the Sheerans and Yozorans. Why are they so selfish? Don't they comprehend that others besides themselves have troubles, too?
Breeze hurried back into the nursery, whimpering.

Sothis brushed past her, optics glimmering with tears. His paws carried him at a walk but it quickly turned into a full out run. The undergrowth flashed by. The terra flashed by. The brute was taking them far away from the center of the Destinian lands indeed. A stream was lept over agiliy. Every few steps he would glance over his shoulder to see that Carolina still followed. The ground was becoming harder and harder. Finally he skidded to a halt. Figure then disappeared into a sort of tunnel in the ground.

Carolina followed after her lover, paws treading the winding way Sothis had marked. She wondered briefly if any back at the camp would miss them, but just as swiftly shut the thoughts away from her sorrowful mind. No. Sothis needs me now. That is all that matters. Her paws fled across the ground with almost unnatural speed to catch up with Sothis. Unnatural because of the broken, shatterd blue energy rushing through her. Extreme emotions, almost too large for her full-grown body, and yet, they remained, not combusting, inside of her. Slowly, they would drain, and she would speed the process of ridding herself of grief by aiding Sothis, and letting her pain and agony flow free with each and every pawstep that hit the ground. She ducked down into the tunnel Sothis had entered, curious about where they were headed to.

The darkness that enveloped him only lasted momentarily. Soon there was a light not far ahead. The sounds behind him told him that his lover was still following. There was a soft drumming against the ground above him and the brute faintly recognized it as the sound of rain. The light brightened and then paws hit air. "Look out for the fall!" He called over his shoulder as he hit the ground and skidded across it. It was a small underground sort of cave. The floor was coated in fresh grass and moss, which he had put there only this morning. A beautiful bundle of tulips lay by a large nest nearby. The sound of water was clear and along the edge of the cave a small under ground stream appeared and disappeared again. The place was brightened by a medium sized hole in the ceiling. The moon and stars shimmered brightly in the sky high above.

Carolina followed through the dimly lit tunnel, the sound of rain from above. Are the heavens mourning Sirius, too? She wondered. Her ears flicked at Sothis' warning. She leapt neatly over the fall, then slowed to a walk. She froze to look upon the place Sothis was showing her, grey optics attempting to capture every inch of it, to store it away in her memory so she would never forget it's uncomparable beauty and aromatic features. Offering her love a small, but impossibly pure smile, she followed him into the den, eyes sparkling with affection. "Sothis....I love you," she whispered in his ear, leaning against him slightly, listening to his heart beat. We'll get through this. We can laugh in the face of death, because we've danced on the fringes of it. We've been through the worst the world could carve out for us to bear. We will make it through this grief, too. And I will never stop loving you.

The brute pulled her close. His muzzle resting against her crown. Midnight optics glimmering with an affection that knew no bounds. "I love you too Carolina." Was all that he could say. Actually, had he ever told her that before? Ever actually said 'I love you'? He'd always felt it, but had he ever actually said it? At the moment he couldn't remember, but he was pretty sure he hadn't. The delicious aroma of her made its way up his nostrils. There is nothing in this world or any other that could tear me away from you. I love you now, and I'll love you forever.
