Black fur wushed through the entrance rustling the bushes. A narrow howl erupted from the fea's open maw making the wind carry the sound. A large elk lay dead at the fea's paws. She had luck with this catch. Of course one it was night, another because it was to old anyways. Luckily with newleaf erupting the elk was fat enough for the pack. " is anyone still awake?" Fyrefly wispered her crimson eyes searching for any form of awake life.

Carolina roused from the healer den, tired eyes blinking away a useless sleep. The sickness was terrifyingly apparent in her every movement. She'd been too ill to attend the gathering. In fact, she was too ill to go much of anywhere. Even the slightest twitch hurt. "Fyrefly?" she rasped, voice barely audible.

"Carolina!" Fyrefly gasped Leaping down the walk way and nudging the sick wolf back to the healers den. "you need to sleep the sickness won't get any better until we start taking percautions!" She insisted. "i'll get you some food." she said going back and ripping some meat off of the dead elk and bringing it back to Carolina.

Carolina smiled faintly, appreciating the wolf's generosity. "Nah, it's fine, really. I need some fresh air, anyway. Trust me, I'll be back in the den soon enough," she laughed hoarsley. "Thanks for the elk, though," she added politely. "So how come you stayed back?" She asked, referring to the gathering.

Fyrefly sighed shaking her head in both Carolina's resistence to her and the idea of the gathering "I just couldn't take it I'm not feeling that great around too many wolves myself" she said following Carolina out. " I mean so many others so many we might have to kill for our own safety" she shuddered at the thought of getting to close to another wolf.

Carolina nodded, "You mean you're afraid you'll get too friendly with other packs and then have a rough time when it comes to battle? Some wolves do, I suppose...well...I did..." she hesitated, looking down at her paws. Carolina had run off with a Siverian wolf as a pup. She'd returned to the pack six moons ago, and had since then been loyal and true. She still felt uneasy around so many other wolves, but was starting to get used to it.

Fyrefly sighed that's exactly how she felt but she couldn't bring herself to think of it as true. "But I just don't know when something will happen! I mean look at us because of the sickness!" she barked nervously. "we're lucky we aren't up 24/7!"

Carolina yawned widely, taking a small bite of elk. "I doubt there will be any fighting now with the sickness...I mean...all the packs are suffering, so nobody's really mad at each other. I guess I'm just worried about what happens after....if...this passes. We're getting a little too comfortable with each other...that'll make it hard to fight if it ever comes to that. And I know what you mean! I'm getting tired just now...imagine being a healer in a time like this!"

" It's too much we need to move! we need to find a better place. A place with no sickness" if there is such a place she added to her self sighing the words gazing at the sky. the stars seemed to glow brighter tonight. She marveled to herself the possiblities of a new home, a new life, a new EVERYTHING!

Carolina sighed miserably. "We haven't even been here for a year! I mean...we'd only carry the sickness with us. We have to have faith...the heavens won't just abandon us. Or at least I don't think so..." she trailed off, frowning deeply. So many had lost faith in the Golden Wolf...but would they also loose faith in Rhain, Siveria, Thorn, and Feather? Then what would they have left to believe in?

"this is the time I question our presence" Fyrefly said tears enveloping in her eyes "Have they really left us for good?" she asked mostly herself.

Carolina shook her head. "But look, Fyrefly! Look at the winter fading away, and the greenery taking its place! Rhain is still here, and will guide us in the Springtime. And if you look up," she tilted her head upward, "there are stormclouds coming. The Seasons are still there, and they haven't given up. Sometimes....these things take time. Sometimes you just have to wait it out, no matter how dark the days seem."

" but the dark. the evil is coming!' Fyrefly wailed bringing her head down her nose touching the cold ground tears tickling her nose. "Why must the dark things happen to desitny?"

"If there was no dark, Fyreflight...there wouldn't be any light, either. In the brightest of lights there are the darkest shadows...but if we forget about the light, then we loose ourselves. It's time we've been found. I know...I know we'll get through this. All of us will."
There is more to this... You will live to tell...

"Carolina but with all this dark no one can see the light and now the dark has destroyed the light for this time. The winter has fozen our hearts! this has me worried. Destinian Pack has been overshadowed." Fyrefly murmered as she stared into the elk's horor struck dim lifeless eyes.
