Camryn padded into the den. She chose a spot to lay down. She licked her paws clean. Then she put her nose down on her paws and curled up to sleep.

Winter's shadow fell across the den, and she rolled her eyes at her young neophyte. "It's a little early to be heading off to sleep! Come on, maybe we can find some food." But she frowned suddenly. Food was so scarce -- they would be lucky to find a meal before they returned to sleep for the night. They could sneak off into the loner lands, but then they ran risk of being captured by Black Fury's gang of tyrants. The Twilight Lake wasn't the best place for hunting, either, but it might be their last resort if they couldn't find anything within their own borders.

Camryn's ears perked up when she heard her mentor's voice. She got up, wiggled her paw a little and padded out to Winter. "Where are we gonna hunt today?" Camryn asked.

The young white warrior pondered this for a moment, mentally tracing all of the routes that she and the other members of the pack had already hunted in. After a short period of silence, she seemed to have decided. "How about we try for a hunt down by the sparkling stream? Not too many patrols have tried to catch anything down their yet, and we have the option of fish, too, if it comes to that." Though I'm pretty sure the fish are scarce, too. This is all so very strange...the prey-scent from the border is ridiculously strong. It's like the moment one would cross the territory lines, the hunting would be perfectly fine. It's too clean of a cut off. This is no ordinary famine. And how could only part of the river system be affected? The Twilight Lake is just fine...so what's going on in our forest? Twilight knows! She nodded, as if to confirm her decision, and then turned and padded swiftly towards the entrance. She picked up the pace until she was in a slow jog. She loped down the hill, exiting the camp and turning back one last time to make sure her neophyte was following. "Keep your senses alert," she told Camryn. "With luck we'll run into some prey along the way to the stream. It's always good to be on the look out, especially in times like these," she barked.

Camryn nodded, adding these notes to her mental checklist. She hoped she wouldn't fall into the stream and scare away any fish. Following her mentor she kept eyes, nose and ears open for prey or predators. She had to hunt now. This was for the pack. She realized this and felt grateful, because she looked out for others that also looked out for her.
{Whatever is easier for you, Siveria. I'm fine with either.}
