Even after all this time, the illusions still hung poignant in the air, suspended in a permanent tapestry on the clifface. As the sun broke on the horizon, painting the skies with their first vibrant strokes of color, she could see the two of them sharply, right on the edge. "It's so beautiful..." Lucille sighed dreamily. Signus nodded, smiling brightly. "I wonder when Nanti and Mom'll wake up? I know they've seen it before...but this sunrise....there's something brilliant about it, I know it..." Nanti. The nickname she's hated. A name that now sounded heavenly to her... "Did you hear something?" Lucille asked suddenly. "LUCY RU--" But his words were slashed from him, the beast moving forward, claws slicing in through his interior and forcing tiny cuts all the way into his front. Then, salivating, the monster threw Signus aside, body falling with a sickening crack from the cliff. Several things began to happen at once. Lucille opened her mouth to scream. Paris surged forward to slay again. The sound of shuffling pawsteps from inside the cave turned to hard, fast paws on the stones. Then all that was left was blood, as Lucille's form crumpled before her brother's paws, her heart, thudded to an end, was exposed in his crimson paw. Ravenously, his fangs gouged through the left ventricle of the organ, tearing, ripping, devouring---Screams broke her living nightmares, the screams of her mother and herself running from that forsaken place. Screans of her own conscious self trying to block the images out. She stopped abruptly, breathing fast. She had not had nightmares since she and Guerrier had started living together. She snuck out here whenever he was away for any span of time, because she knew it held good memories, too. But sunrise, that was a time she'd always avoided. She should've thought of that before she came here. Swallowing hard, she gave herself a brisk shake, hoping no wolf had seen the freakish display, then went to peek at the old cave. To her disbelief, there were still scraps of moss as the back of the den, dried and crinkled. They were sparse and few, but she knew no wolf had rested here since the day she and Liv had fled. The whole forest figured out what happened....starting with the Siverians, and then the Yozorans, and I'm sure they shared their little news with the rest of that lot. I'm sure most wolves, knowing who, along with what, was born here, would steer clear....perfect. Now they know they better stay away if they don't want any harm. Taking a deep breath, she retreated from the den and went about gathering a new nest.

The brute pushed up dirt, digging deep into the ground. Quickly, as dirt flew through the air, a deep hole began to be seen, and a small moving object could be seen, bearing it's teeth. The small, brown object jumped forward, just as Guerrier jumped back. It snapped its teeth, and growled in an odd manor. This was no wolf, no, this was a vicious, mean creature of the underworld. Guerrier snapped at his face, only to get scored across the face with claws. He loved playing these games with animals, only thye didn't know it was a game. He batted the creature, avoiding putting claws into it. He barked at it playfully, and it lunged at him, teeth snapping. It snapped its teeth into his leg, and he growled playfully and whipped his leg forward, sending the creature flying away. The woodchuck got up, and growled in the odd manor. He turned around and clambered away. "Alright, alright, these games are done. Goodbye!" he murmured, he paused, only to whipped his head, looking behind him, and bound in that direction. He had spotted a young doe, and he was intent on killing it. He was gaining on it, circling around it so he could get in front of it. Finally, he got his chance, he leaped up on its shoulder, digging his teeth into its neck. "Woah!" he barked, as he almost was thrown off, he dug his claws into it's shoulder, and reached his head down to it's leg. He bit deep into its pressure point, and the doe, as well as him, went down in a flash. He barked in pain as the doe landed on him, and he kicked it off quickly, jumping onto its back and killing it with a quick bite. "Annanti's and our pups will be full tonight!" he barked happily. He grabbed it quickly and began to follow Annanti's scent, though it was hard through the strong scent of the doe.

It wasn't hard to take down a few birds who had thought night was safer now. She lashed out at them swiftly with briar claws and quickly de-feathered them. She had only caught three, not enough for a very large nest, and it would take a while to build it up. But for tonight, she she could collect some leaves and moss, she and Guerrier would be able to sleep quite comfortably. I wonder how many....and what to name them.... She smiled slightly. She had two names already that would suit any children of hers just fine. I'll have to think of backups...don't know gender or anything.... She wondered how it was for her mother, setting out to create her own whelping den here. She had had help from a loner named Mirage, a friend who had saved her life time and time again. Liv had thought highly of her, and Mirage had visited often. Annanti had not seen her again after she and her mother had fled this cliffside. Ah, well, wherever she is, I do hope she's all right. She placed what she had gathered in the den, then rearranged it all so it would make a better bed. She sighed heavily, then settled into the nest. Well, I suppose we'll be safe here. Paris and Mirage were the only ones who knew of this place besides Liv...well, Diablo, too. But I won't have to worry about anyone. Mirage would be welcome, and Diablo...well, he'll stay in his place.
And she closed her eyes before she could set them on a world on fire.

Soon Guerrier was at the whelping den. He pulled the deer inside and pushed it to the side. His eyes adjusted to the dimmer lighting, and he saw his mate already in the nest, ready to unleash the pups. He was at her side quickly, grooming her ears, comforting her. He was nervous as if she was having surgery done by Diablo. He was shaking slightly, but he stayed calm. Please, make everything go alright... he begged the heavens, and karma. Please..
[[heh thats a post you can call getting to the point ^^]]

[[She's not THAT pregnant yet, silly XD ]]
Annanti laughed softly. "Guerrier, I'm not having the pups for about a moon. Calm down!" She licked his ears affectionately and sniffed in the direction of the deer. "Wow. You didn't have to go out of your way, you know!" She giggled.
(sorry, crappy post. =/)

[[oops xD]]
Guerrier's nerves calmed, he was so paranoid these days, as it got closer to her birthing date. He often jump at random noises in the middle of the night, or answered random howl's just in case it was someone telling him Annanti was having her pups. He smiled cheekily, and pulled the deer in closer to her, so she could eat. He saw the feathers on her nest, and he decided she needed more feathers. "I"ll fetch more birds, and beddings tommorow, and we need to have an extra extention, in case we have alot of pups. If we have more than three or four someone will be sleeping on the ground, so we'll fetch the extension so that doens't happen." he was trying to think of everything so nothing was late. "I grabbed some herbs to; borage, poppy seed, some cobwebs, blessed thistle, bramble twigs, wolfnip, chamomile, feverfew, honey, lavender, juniper berry, golden rod, huckleberry, and a couple others... would've took me months if I slept!" he gasped at how many herbs that was. He remembered the six sacks full of the herbs, and thought Wow I must look like a paranoid idiot!

Her eyes widened suddenly. "Guerrier," she sighed. "I'm ordering you to sleep. Nesting is part of a parents' preparations, not only for the pups, but for themselves mentally. Look, nothing's going wrong. My mother was a pretty skilled healer....and I learned a few things before she passed away. I appreciate your efforts, but it's all too much. Sleep, love," she laughed softly.
An orange light flashed suddenly from the entrance. Frowning, Annanti padded towards the small opening of the den. "Well then....." she narrowed her eyes as smoke swathed the forest. "Forest fires don't reach up here, typically. It's off in the Twilight Clearing, I'd say. We should be fine...." but she was unnerved by the flames. They seemed to be calling...beckoning her....

Guerrier shook his head, "I'm not tired, I fell unconscience when fighting a brute, I got enough sleep," he said gesturing to a bloody welt near the base of his left ear. "I'm going to stand guard, if the fires raise, I'll tell you. I can't sleep, I slept for ages today!" He trotted to the entrance, and stood beside Annanti. "You, on the other hand, have pups and will be very tired and weak if you don't rest! You must be exhausted!" His ears flicked casually, then perked forward, almost touching eachother. He was watching for any fires, or smoke.

"No," she said flatly. "Not at all, really." She sat down, looking out at the flares. "There's something different about it. I've seen a forest fire before, and it looked nothing....nothing like this. There's something going on....and it started so suddenly! No lightning....the flint rocks are up in the mountains....this doesn't make sense. And why the Twilight Clearing of all places.....something's up..." she thought aloud, tail twitching anxiously.

"Mmm..." he mumbled, thinking over what she said, and absentmindedly he remarked, "Seems like all of Hellfire down there." It was almost a joke, he wasn't serious, he was just noting the fires, and smoke. He watched, his eyes straining to see. "Are you sure you aren't tired?" flicking off the subject, he wanted her to get some rest. "I really think you should rest." it was a request, one last request for her to sleep, but he knew if she didn't want to, she wouldn't.

"No way am I going to sleep!" She sighed, shaking her head. She stood up and walked out onto the ledge, careful to scent the air before she did so. The smoke was rising fast, blasting out ahead of the fires and sneaking out with long tendrils of black and gray. It was still many miles away from their home on the Xavrien Heights, but it was making her a bit anxious, the way it kept expanding. "At this point," she breathed narrowly. "I really wouldn't be suprised if all of Hellfire was down there." She sounded extremely nervous, afraid even. Annanti was not one to show fear. Ever. But there was one wolf she did fear very much, one wolf, that when she hear wolves speak of Hellfire, she flinched inwardly as his face flashed across her mind. Paris.

Annanti was showing fear. Guerrier noted this, and walked out to the ledge as well. "Is there something you wish to speak about?" usually if he asked this question, it was a request, but at this moment he needed to know, it could put her in danger if he did not. His ears were perked forward, listening to the fire, and waiting to listen to Annanti.
