Stupid. Stupid, stupid, stupid, STUPID FREAKING IDIOT YOU'RE COMMITTING SUICIDE-- NO! I'M TRYING TO SAVE MY FRIEND! Hacking, spluttering, choking split through Meg's throat as she clung desperately to a sharp, unfriendly rock. The rough, weathered stone just barely chipped through the surface of the torrent, a spate of water gushing over her every few seconds. It's not going to hold, it's not going to hold.... Sprays of numbing water pelted past her face, her legs had completely lost feeling, a crimson cloud was starting to form on either of her sides, a resounding roar sounded in her ears (both were also cut, threatening to tear). Somewhere, up in the mass of dreadful, colorless disaster, there was a warped, dancing vortex moving steadily closer.... Meg's vision turned completely gray as her eyes slid shut and tears came down. ...just wanted to have some fun....

"Meg..." Styx was still trying to swim through the torrent, but he used less power now. What in the world is that thing. I never noticed it before. He was confused of what to do now. He could try and save Meg from the strange gray vortex, or he could go onto shore and try to get help. He was utterly confused of what to do. He decided to try and swim to shore, maybe that would help him think better. As soon as he started moving sideways, the water tried to bring him under. He swallowed a mouthful of water and felt his energy decrease greatly. I'm going to die, I'm going to die. What the Hell am I doing? I should just let myself drown. He went under and tried to breathe in the water, but it didn't work. His body just wouldn't let him. He swam to the top of the water. The wind suddenly felt stronger than before. He looked over his shoulders and noticed the angry vortex was dangerously closer.

Flip. Meg's eyes flashed open in terror, wide, watering, bloodshot orbs of green gazing down at the roaring stream in horrified realization. The light, brown-and-cream she-wolf was thrown from the raging waters and slammed to the earth only feet from the banks. The winds tipped and tumbled her down a dip, splinters, branches, tiny evergreen needles impaling her as she was swept away. The cruel majesty stood only perhaps a mile away from her now. She struggled to stand and run, but each of her pawsteps felt as if they were being weighted down with lead bricks. "STYX, STYX, STYX!!!! I'M OUT, JUST BE SAFE, OKAY, JUST BE SAFE!!" He would never be able to hear her in this, what with her own eardrums struggling to capture the words, but it had been worth a shot. Jumping into what could've been a watery grave, if only to attempt saving Styx, had been worth the shot.
A small, abandoned rabbit hole appeared in the ground, and Meg dove for it, forcing her small body into the damp, tiny safe haven. Oh, Styx, please be safe, please be safe, please be safe...

Styx suddenly had an idea. He went back under and dug his claws into the sand. Even though the current kept pushing him, he put all his weight onto his paw and used every ounce of energy left into his shoulders. He tried his best to hold his breath no matter how much his lungs screamed for air. He saw the edge of the stream getting closer and closer. He almost wanted to smile, but he knew he was not safe yet. When he was finally only a foot away from the shore, he used the rest of his energy and jumped out of the water and onto land. A sudden blast of wind made him shudder, but he could only go so far as to under a tall tree. He was breathing hard, but his mind told him was safe. He knew he wasn't safe. The raging vortex was moving away, but Styx now felt sick. He could hear his name on the wind. He wanted to follow the sound, but he decided to rest and wait for the storm to go by.
