Although not exactly skipping about like some happy-go-lucky gal, Natoma was... okay. Every since the loss of her brother, nothing seemed to have gotten her attention; everything seemed to have a duller color or a blander taste. And yet something caught her eye this day. Another wolf in the pack, to be exact. He was older than her, though-- of Proliator age as opposed to her neophyte rank. But that didn't mean that they couldn't have a conversation, could it? At least, she was determined to see that her thoughts would be proven true. Today, she wanted to shove away depressing thoughts; for twenty four hours, she decided that she wasn't going to think of Corsivo or her mother. She would be a normal female neophyte today. And she was going to stalk down the wolf she had seen and force him into a conversation if it came to it.
((crappy post and a little uncharacteristic, but hey, I told jacker I would do it XD))

(*laughs*)
Shaw trotted into the middle of the camp, ears twitching slightly. He glanced around. It didn't seem like anyone else was around.
Where's that Blink when you need her? He twitched his nose irritably. Probably trying to kill moose again, no doubt.
Shrugging, he was almost about to trot back out when, inexplicably, he thought he heard something. He froze in his tracks.
What was that?

At long last, she spotted her "prey" (which was a pretty accurate description considering that she was practically about to pounce on him). And she did. She pounced and landed directly behind him, nearly silent aside from the small thump of paws hitting earth. Eddies of dust swirling from her claws, she swallowed her sorrows and yipped pleasantly up at the older wolf. "Hi!"

Shaw blinked. I thought I heard a thump.
"Hi!"
He whipped around, his head swiveling from left to right. "Wha- oh." He glanced down at the neophyte that had been... stalking him?
"Hello. Er... who're you?" Ah well. It's not like I can follow Blink all the time, either.
(Bad post, but hey, life can't be exciting all the time.)

Natoma stared up at Shaw, her tail skimming the ground and sweeping a cloud of dirt into the air. Shaw... hmm, that's a cool name. Kind of like chainsaws... wait... what's a chainsaw? "I'm Natoma," the young fae woofed. She glanced over her shoulder, as if to see if anyone was watching. Okay, okay-- calm down, and pretend you're just a normal neophyte... "...don't you have a sister? Where is she?"
((mine sucks too XD))

"Hey, I'm..." He paused. "...Shaw." I get this weird feeling that she already knows my name.
He shook the feeling off, then responded, "Well. That's the thing. I haven't seen Blink anywhere. And I was hoping to find her somewhere in the camp, but that doesn't seem very likely at the moment..." He gestured helplessly in the direction of the moose hunting grounds. Unbeknownst to him, his paw was also pointing directly at the Twilight Clearing. "My guess is she's trying to take a moose on by herself."
Shaw shrugged. "What can you do? I suppose she can take care of herself..."
"So... I don't seem to remember you much from around camp. Do you have any siblings?" He threw the question about there, not expecting much more than a matter-of-fact statement.

I already know your name, big guy! she thought inwardly. And ah- so THAT'S your sister's name... Blinking back slight shock, Natoma uttered a soft gasp. "How can someone take on a moose by themselves? They're huge! Have you ever taken one all alone?" Of course, she was only a neophyte, so the prospect of killing a full grown moose was almost beyond comprehension. But her sudden burst of interest suddenly fell way to a deep frown at his proceeding inquiry. "...yeah. A couple," she replied softly, suddenly avoiding his gaze. ...wait, no, no, no-- I'm talking to him because I want a day off of sadness-- change the subject NOW! "...so, uh, about those moose?" she woofed, faking a grin.

"Er... no, I haven't. But, you know... well, you don't know, but when my sister puts her mind to something, she does it. There's been many a day when I came back from training as a neophyte, and she'd be all battered and bloody on the ground..." He averted his eyes slightly, holding back a chuckle on his throat. "I guess it wasn't really all that funny. But she always insisted that she had beaten the skunk, badger, whatever it was, and that she was fine." Shaw shrugged. "I guess she was. Still, someday I think she's going to go too far..."
"Sorry, sorry. Got caught up in talking to myself." A mildly lopsided grin graced his face for a moment, then faded. "A couple?" A slight crease appeared in his forehead at the reaction he seemed to have caused, but the reaction faded so quickly Shaw could have sworn he had been mistaken. "Okay."
"Moose. Yeah. I've seen a couple of wolves take on a moose once... Haven't really tried myself."
