Okay....so every writer suffers from lack of ideas, writer's block, loss of "muse" from time to time. We are no exception to this unfortunate rule. (I know, I'm like Captain Obvious). But anyway....there are a lot of ways around it. And I don't just mean breaking through a block;; I mean long-term solutions Anyway, what basically happens is this: Avoidance behavior: -Not logging in. -Logging in & not posting. -Avoiding certain threads. -Posting in a half-hearted way. I saw some people talking in the cbox, and they really got me thinking. What really encouraged me was that they were discussing issues they had that made them blocked or inhibited their writing. They didn't talk too much about how to fix them...so i decided to start this open-ended communal thread. Basically, I'm going to list some topics below and some solutions, and then when you guys post, your can post your thoughts, solutions, and any other issues you want to bring up here. I'll add them to the list so we can always reference this, and hopefully it will help our sites activity and betterment ....cause honestly, this has been a rough year for a lot of us xP I don't have any muse.Being blocked is hard, really hard. It happens to the best of us, where we just can't come up with any ideas we deem as good or our writing quality suddenly takes a dip. There's a lotta ways to fix this....the trick is to find some that work for your. Some of the more popular ones I've come across here are: -Music = Brain Stimulant. Often influences emotions & can aid in some good idealisms. Really good paired with other methods. -Vigorous Exercise = Creates endorphins, which make you REALLY happy and, again, stimulate your brain. =) -Walking = Much like vigorous exercise; brain stimulant. -Taking A Break = Get your mind off things, hang out with friends, come back when you're less stressed. -You can re-read old threads or even a passage from a good book. (From Wolfie) Personally, if I read something good, I get an urge to write. Like when someone posts a fan story in their author's board, for example. Reading another person's fan story always gets me pumped to write XD Maybe other people might get this same reaction too? (then again, maybe not.. I'm weird x3) I only have muse for certain chars.A lot of people subconsciously (or not) pick out "protagonists" from their chars, or main characters that they focus their large ideas on. This is fine; dramatics, romance, love, hate --- it keeps us guessing. But if every char has a huge sob story or something perfectly great about them....well, then the big ideas just turn mushy. You can't have big without little; they define each other. So....thoughts on this: -Keep your big ideas. Dazzle us! BUT-Keep the little ones too. Throw characters you're not so savvy with into random open threads. A big problem with boring characters is that they don't have any relations. Make them some friends, enemies, whatever in an open thread and things will get a bit more interesting; just be random, see where things take you Nobody's on when I'm on.Time differences and hectic schedules make it hard for people to be on at the same time, and for a few of us, this means strictly the weekends. The best things to do here: -Post, reply to threads, check back later. People will be on when they can get on I'm bored.... really? Um....well, then you should probably: -Do something. Respond to threads, post in open threads, make your own open threads, check out the author's corner, post in an OOC board. If you're still bored after....I'd say go do something else xD Nobody replies to my threads. This is typically because people are busy or blocked in some way. Recommendations include: -Talk to the person. Ask them what's up, if they're blocked, bring them to therapy (here) xD -Cbox. Remind or invite people to post. Nobody wants to rp anymore.*raises paw guiltily* Anybody wanna help me out here?

Very well stated... and good ideas. I use many of these myself when I'm "muse-less" (didn't we ban that word at one point? XD) But I have another idea for helping to solve "I don't have any muse": You can re-read old threads or even a passage from a good book. Personally, if I read something good, I get an urge to write. Like when someone posts a fan story in their author's board, for example. Reading another person's fan story always gets me pumped to write XD Maybe other people might get this same reaction too? (then again, maybe not.. I'm weird x3) "Nobody wants to rp anymore". I have two possible solutions: - Yell at ppl to come read this thread XD - PM me, 'cause I like rping and I'll gladly reply I'm not very good at problem solving.

I move that we have a fun role-playing thread that all wolves can be invited to.
GAH!!! STUPID PARLIMENTARY LAW!!! *beats up Robert's rules of Order*
I mean, just some thread that everyone can go along with so they can get back posting and get posting. I've been inactive and that normally does to me is that I just talk to people but if we have a thread just so we can rp again. That'll be great. That is why I made this motion.
NUUUU!!! STUPID ROBERT RULES OF ORDER...
((Sorry, our Parli-Pro teams made it to regionals and we didn't make it to state so I got the parli-pro in my head still *scratches head*))

thanks Wolfie I am a bit irritated though. Nighty's the only one so far who's posted that talked in the c box....and another problem with that last one for me is that I do put so much time and thought into this. And people are unwilling to work with me -- Nighty that's a brilliant idea, but therin lies the problem. People have great ideas and just don't execute them. They either clam up or, it feels like, wait for me to do it for them. Nighty, if you want to get back into posting, you're going to have to do it. You're going to have to make this fun-thread and make note that it's open && not serious-toned. It's a fantastic idea --- great for getting people back into rping mode. But you have to do it. Not me. But yeah....this year has been rough, and I feel like this should've been done way sooner. And yet, people still shrug it off. I just saw someone now in the c box "I read your ideas. Nobody replies to my threads. You can go there now and reply in Halo or Gade."Okay....I guess. But I feel more irked than motivated to help out a fellow rper. Thanks so much for, ya know, commenting. Taking time and commenting. Idk. I guess that's another problem for me. It gets to a point like this where people don't take time to look at the stuff I write so, really, why do I want to look at theirs? I don't. This year....it's been hideous for the site. And it's exhausting for me. And disappointing and emotional, thinking "okay, any month now, people are just gonna stop posting alltogether". I need more than that guess and "yeah, maybe this will work". I need more than just a fantabulous one or two with me, even if it's every step of the way that you guys have been there. Everybody needs to take responsibility for themselves. I don't want to fix everybody's problems for them. This is so overdue....and I feel like I've been coddling people. I don't want to. I don't want to have to coax people into posting and beg people to think outside this little box called "muse" that they've placed themselves in. Because half the time, people don't have "muse"....but if you want to be a writer someday, or a journalist, or something like that, you can't just wait in a spinny chair for inspiration to magically hit you. Sometimes, you've got to go with what you've got and see where it takes you. Sometimes it turns out, sometimes it doesn't. That's part of life. It's not that everyone here doesn't get that....it's just the, ya now, minus two, three, four majority.

Okay. If people don't wanna rp, why did they join this site? Not to sound mean, but just threaten anyone who don't rp, basically saying "If you don't post any, we might take you off the site." Make sense? It could knock some sense into them, maybe.
As for writers block, I totally agree with reading a good book. I read "warriors" series to get me going. The thrill and excitement makes my mind THINK! And instead of pondering over what to write, take a break, go watch a good, thrilling TV show, and like siv said, listen to music. Sometimes if you listen to lyrics of a good song it makes you think, "what if that happened to one of my charries? I might be able to squeeze it in...." Hey, it works for me! If you have any ideas, please, myself and several others would appreciate you help!
And maybe, (this might be what she was saying) I could make a thread that people can visit, and actually say what they want to happen in the site. Like if they want a war, or whatnot. Then if the controllers of this site approve, it happens, so they can rp. like making a charry. Get it?
So basically, I am stumped on this one charry. Her name's Eurasia, and she is a brand new Sheeran herb wolf. right now, I have no clue on what to do with her. She's just there... Any ideas?
And sivy, I am really sorry. I didn't mean for my cbox message to sound like "go post there"... I just talk to you more, and we mainly rp in eachother's threads, so it came out like that. And I am really sorry that you have to go through this. I know I will try to rp as much as I can, but I don't control other people.

Fire, fire in the fire! FIRE FLAMING FIRE FLAMING FIRE FLAMING... What am I doing? XD I don't know. I'm going to post now. Mwahahahahaha. Sometimes I don't quite see the point in posting, but then I guess I just remind myself that if no one sees the point in posting, we kind of get stuck in a rut, I suppose. Well, hm. *looks over list* I don't listen to music. Except for NaNoWriMo (which I was absent most of November because) I didn't listen to music while writing. And for NaNoWriMo, I just listened to one song over and over . Vigorous Exercise works, I guess. I mean, I just went and played basketball, and then I posted. I think Walking is in the same category. Taking a Break... Hmm. I'm tempted to argue against this one, actually. Because sometimes when I take a break, I just end up wanting a longer break, then a longer longer break... and you get it. Zzz... VIVA THE REVOLUTION! I'M GOING TO MAKE A NEW BIO THEN I'M GOING TO POST! RAAAAAAAAR!! This post is not endorsed in any way by my logical left hemisphere of my brain. Sole responsibility for well-being is left up to the reader of this post. Njack is not responsible for any injuries or death caused by reading this post. This offer is not valid after 4/12/2050. Well, it's not that music only effects you from the lyrics. It mainly depends on what they are saying or how the music is. I listen to metal rock, and most of the time I think of something tragic or violent. Then I hear a soft, gentle song, and that gets me thinking about romance, and saddening events usually. It is like my crack. It effects the way I think of things... LOL
Anyways, I DEFINITELY am getting more ideas for my post and rp-ing. Reading this thread really gave me ideas. (Thanks and kudos to Sivy, for putting this together!) But if you still have any ideas for my charry (hints to last post in this thread) please tell me so.
I also just found out that all you really gotta do to get people rp-ing is message them. Like Neon and several others, they received messages telling them to reply to my post or telling them that they can post. It's actually pretty convenient. It worked for me and others. Like in a thread, I posted back in January, and she never replied. Finally, sometime this month, I sent a message saying to get off their butts and reply. Turns out they didn't even realize that I had responded. xD Try it! Sometimes it really isn't their fault!

Okay so this is the therapy thread? Moonsetwolf and me have been having issues on what to add on a thread, (don't forget) Gade. We are trying to figure out what will happen in order for Gade and Featherswift to get more close. Any suggestions?
Moonsetwolf do you have any ideas yet on it? I don't unfortunatly, even doing all those...yeah nothing.

hmmm my advice to you is to let things like that grow gradually. Like, don't go falling in love in one thread, let it happen over a few Maybe just start out as friends, playfighting, talking, hunting, stuff like that. Share stuff with each other, mess around, break rules, play cops and robbers, stuff like that. (i.e. Damien + Sanceul truth or dare. Heck, I think Wolfie and I will go through too many threads to count before they finally admit/realize they like each other ) Do something quirky =D It'll make it more interesting and add more depth to their relationship. Hope I helped

Sorry this took so long. Yeah, I was thinking that it would be too quick to fall in love in one thread. I was going to get Gade to ask Featherswift on a training session, basically as if he were HER mentor, ya know, since he knows more fighting tactics. Play fights and play training sessions, and maybe even they could find Missing together! I went a little far out with that, but oh well.

yeeahh and Warrior/mentor relationships aren't really allowed until both are warriors and find Missing if you want, but good luck trying to rescue her xD

Well, basically what I meant to say was like not a real mentor relationship or w/e but like...Okay nevermind. I don't even know what I meant. xD Scratch that out! "Let's have some fun this beat is sick. I wanna take a ride on your disco stick!" HAHA! THAT SONG IS AWESOME! Yall are probably wondering why I'm on too, lol. Sorry, I had to check cuz Rachel was on. She's mad that I stole the computer away. So yeah, I posted in that thread saying how he asks her to go hunting later. And they are both on the search party too, so some stuff could happen there. =)
"I WANNA KISS YOOH, BUT IF I DO I JUST MIGHT MISS YOOH BABAY!!!!" God, Lady GaGa is sooo annoying, but she writes some awesome songs.
here's a joke! How do you wake up Lady GaGa?
PokeHerFace! xD (Pokerface) get it?
