A cream and brown-colored wolf sped through the forest, her quiet form just a blur as she went by. Birds were singing their song and the scent of rain was strong in the air. It had rained last night, and Pandora wasn't surprised if it rained again. As usual what happened during the spring time, there was tons of rain. But would there be enough rain in the summer? She suddenly stepped on a thorn that had broken from a rose bush. Pandora clamped her mouth shut, not wanting to howl in pain. She knew she was supposed to be at the battle, but if anyone knew she had stayed behind, she might've gotten into trouble. She sat down and started to tug at the thorn in her paw, her claws silently scratching at the ground in pain.

She knew she shouldn't be out and about by herself so much, but Breeze couldn't help it -- who else would understand her compulsion to explore? She'd traced these terras many times on hunting expeditions and assesments, so she was familiar. After all, this was the Destinian home. But still, Breeze felt drawn to the quiet, calm parts of the territories. They thrived with life! Whole families of animals were at work in the territories and nobody even gave it a second thought! Merrily, Breeze trodded through the new grass, green with springtime. It felt damp underpaw, and the smell of rain lingered. I wonder if it'll rain again soon? She giggled with delight as she spotted a praying mantis atop a low branch of an elm tree. She padded over to the branch, eyes wide with wonder as she gazed at the green creature. "Hello there!" She took no notice to Pandora, more concerned with finding bugs than scenting for wolves.

Pandora pulled the thorn out at the same time she heard the greeting. She looked around and saw a wolf staring at a praying mantis. She shook her head in disgust. Some wolves always have to ruin the peacefulness. She stood up and walked over to the wolf. "Hey, shouldn't you be back at camp or something?" she asked in a quiet voice. Pandora glanced once at the praying mantis and sighed. "Why are you so interested in this thing? If I were you, I would eat it." She licked her lips, but her expression made no sign that she would actually go after the bug.

Breeze whirled around, startled. She gazed wide-eyed at Pandora for a moment, then scowled at her bitter comment. As the wolf blinked towards the bug, Breeze's eyes narrowed and she growled defensively. "Why aren't you interested? There's life outside wolven kind, you know -- I guess some wolves are just too dense to notice!" She pointedly turned her back away, pelt fluffed out and bristling. "Why is it all wolves care about is eating and fighting?" Her mood was soured now, but she still managed a small smile for the bug. It looks like it's praying, or something....I'll call it a holy praying bug! She felt bad for snapping at Pandora, but the wolf had taken her by surprise and rubbed her sore spot. She turned, eyes apologetic, but stance still clearly offended. "Sorry I snapped, I'm just irritated, that's all."

"That's like someone saying 'no offense,' " growled Pandora. "I'm still quite offended. Seems like some wolves are too ignorant to care about others feelings." She was still staring at the praying mantis, waiting for it to make a move. It kind of reminded her of herself; quiet, watchful, and always ready to react. She wondered if the bug was annoyed of Breeze yet. I bet it is. She tells me I don't have a life outside of wolven kind, yet she's the one who doesn't know how to act right when it comes to bugs. Bet she doesn't even know what this thing is.

Breeze said nothing, but her pelt bristled with annoyance. Hypocrite, much? Apparently I was interested in what I was doing, and she just storms in her and tells me its stupid. Yeah, that's totally being careful about other wolves' feelings! Geeze, what's wrong with wolves these days? "Well hate to rain on your parade, but you actually hurt my feelings with the first words that came out of your mouth. Practice what you preach!" She countered, throwing a fiery glare at Pandora. Sheesh, she's getting under my pelt! Why can't wolves just be cordial? If they don't understand something, then don't say it in a demeaning way....

"The first thing that came out of my mouth was asking if you were supposed to be back at camp," sighed Pandora. "I guess if you're sensitive to every question asked, fine then. Besides, I was just wondering why you were so interested in the bug. You should be the one to practice what they preach. You're the one who scolded me for being 'dense'." She sighed again and shook her head, wondering why she was giving a moral lesson to a wolf that would probably forget everything she said. "I'm starting to wonder who the real dense one is now." She glanced away from the bug and looked at Breeze. No offense, her smile seemed to say.

"Be careful," Breeze snorted in contempt, "You might have trouble walking with your tail stuck that far up your butt! And if that doesn't make you limp, tripping over your huge ego might," she snarled. She narrowed her eyes and flexed her claws idly. Typically, Breeze was a sweet, playful wolf, but Pandora rubbed her fur entirely the wrong way. Ugh, I swear, if she wants a fight, it's so on! She felt bad, privately -- she'd come out here hoping, maybe, for a friend. Sheesh, it's hard to find decency around this place lately... She felt bad for the angry words flaming between her and Pandora -- privately, she knew she would regret it later if they pounced at each other. Fireflight would be infuriated at us both -- now's not the time for internal conflicts. I'll be cleaning Toss' pelt and bed for moons...

Pandora shook her head and looked down at Breeze's claws. "No point in fighting a fight you know you can't win. It'll be useless spilling precious blood like that." I was right, this wolf is going to ignore everything I say. Why are the young ones so quick to get into a fight? "It makes me wonder, if I was the leader, would you do the same thing? Or maybe if I was an elder who could barely fight, would you actually listen to me? I swear, what do the mentors teach these days?"

She growled under her breath, but loud enough for Pandroa to hear, "Yeah, well every wolf thinks they could do it better if they were alpha, but chances are, they can't. Would you waste time appointing mentors when there's rogues everywhere, battles all the time, and over-dramatic packs declaring war on each other?" She blinked wearily at Pandora, sighing heavily. "I don't have a mentor, in case you were wondering. Svel was supposed to be, but Destiny knows where the heck she went..." she murmured softly. "Look, whether you believe me or not, I am sorry. I didn't mean to come out here and pick a fight, and this isn't the time for pack conflict," she woofed, this time sincerity rang in her tone.

Pandora shook her head. "After all the mean stuff you said and basically ignoring anything I said, you think I'm going to take an apology that easily? Hah!" She started walking slowly back to camp, her face as expressionless as it was before. "And besides, I never said I wanted to be an alpha, I was just asking how you would respond to someone with more respect. Guess it doesn't matter now." She shrugged and continued walking, stopping one more time when she remembered something. "Oh yes, the bug is called a praying mantis."

Breeze snorted, highly irritated. There's just no pleasing some wolves, some are just intentionally difficult. She opened her maw to say so, but then closed it again. It was clear there would be no resolution here, and she didn't want to spark up animosities again. She sighed, turning back to hunt down the green praying bug again. She raised her head as Pandora stopped, ears flicking and head tilting at the wrods. Her eyes grew wide and flickered with interest. "Really? Who taught you that?" she asked, curiosity getting the better of her. "Do you know any other bugs? I only know a few..."

Pandora turned around and smiled. "Intelligence wins over all," she whispered to herself. Speaking louder now, she said, "A few friendly wolves taught me the name. Just point out a bug and I could probably name it." A long bodied bug with fast-beating wings flew near the praying mantis and quickly flew away. "Dragonfly..."

(Sorry it took me so long to respond, I've been really really busy with finals. Luckily, school's out now =D )
Breeze tilted her head, eyed rounded into a mooning gaze. She stared at the dragonfly in admiration as it buzzed on its way, unbothered and uninterested with the wolves. She glanced back to Pandora, the corners of her mouth turning slightly upwards. "I guess it's silly that I'm so interested in stuff like bugs and...plants and stuff. It's not that I'm like...not right in the head, it's just that, well, there's nothing else for me to do. I tried to keep up with the other neophytes, but since Svel isn't really around anymore...I don't know things the other neophytes do. So I found other things to fill my time with. It gets kinda lonely otherwise, just hangin' out and doing nothing when everyone's..." she paused, eyes thoughtful. She eyed the dragonfly as it dipped around the greenery, then woofed softly, "everyone seems to be doing something."

((I still have a week left -.-))
Pandora shrugged and started looking around for another bug. "Well, I usually never do nothing, because I'm always doing something. Some wolves call me lazy when they see me just lying around, but they never know the many thoughts that go through my head. You can't just do nothing, you have to be doing something. Even sleeping is doing something." She walked over to a tree and carefully lightly poked a claw at a large green beetle. "Japanese beetle. Don't know what a Japanese is, but I guess it must be the land it comes from. Anyways, I don't think you're messed up in the head. All of us have something weird. Some physical, some mental, some emotional. Haven't you noticed I barely show much emotion?"
