Pretending To Sleep (Open!)

"Yeah! I'll be the alpha of the Bananananananan... er... Pack!" Banana grinned.

What do alphas do? Oh, yes. Banana drew himself up to a regal position, puffed his chest out, then stood on his head. It was harder than it looked. He also made his face very, very straight and solemn. Like this: "".

"Ahem... Tatiana, er... Alphess of the Tatianan Pack, how doth go the hunting and gathering for your pack?" Banana suppressed a giggle. Unbecoming for such a dignified alpha!... Hee hee.

And yes, he was still standing on his head.

Tatiana drew herself into a solemn, regal posture. She straightened her back, biting back her giggles as Banana's odd display. She wondered why he sat on his head. Maybe it's a custom of the Bananan Pack? My pack should have something like that, too. So Tatiana laid down on her belly and hoisted her hind legs into the air. She kinda looked like a curled noodle doing yoga. =)

"The hunting and gathering fares well, Banana, leader of the Bananans. However, the others packs have crossed the hunting borders, breaking pack law. It would be a pleasure to have the Bananans fighting with us when we go to punish our enemies, if you would like to form an alliance?" Her eyes twinkled with mischeif.

[Njack]

"Hmm, hmm... yes, let it be so." Banana's tail made a little wag of delight. "When shall we sally forth to rout these oversteppers of hunting borders?"

Whoof! Being an alpha is hard, with all these long words and stuff!

He flipped back on his feet, ready to charge out of the den at a moment's notice. For Narnia!... Wait, what?

Tatiana beamed, forgetting her alpha composure as she, too, flipped into normal position again. "We must attack at once! I won't tolerate this...this..." I need a nice long fanciful word! Crap...um... "...this trespassing any longer! Let's gather the warriors!"
Hm, maybe we could go to the sleeping dens and see if anybody else wants to play? If we could find two others they could be the other pack alphas and we could fight!
"Hey, do you want to race to the Sleeping Dens again as see if anybody else wants to play?" She barked to Banana, game on temporary hold. "They could be the other packs and we could have an actual play battle in the clearing!"

[Njack]

Banana scratched his ear once he was temporarily not an alpha, then smiled. "Yeah! Let's do it!" He bounced out of the alpha's den towards the sleeping dens, eyes sparkling with anticipation.

I wonder if there's anyone else who isn't sleeping?

Huh. Looks like he forgot about that "race" part. Well, maybe he would remember it somewhere in the middle of the excitement.

Seeing that he had a head start, Tatiana sped off after Banana to catch up. After she did, she made no move to pass him, though. We'd get pretty tired if we started racing around everywhere! This saves ourselves for our little battle!
She poked her head into the den, tail wagging happily when she spotted hre brother, Etheris, and one of the older neophytes, Breeze. The looked up at her groggily, but she nosed them both fully awake. "Hey, you two, come and play with us! We're pretending we're alphas and we're about to go into battle with the other two packs for hunting on our terra! You two could be alphas!"
This was enough to rouse Etheris, tail wagging and eyes narrowed with excitement. Breeze, however, rose with measured enthusiasm.
"Well, we have to have a reason for hunting on your terra. What packs do we get to lead, anyway?"
"You two can name them!" Tatiana insisted.
Breeze shrugged. Well, why not? It's better than laying around doing nothing. "All right...I'll be alpha of the Breezian Pack." Huh, that's kinda a weird name...
Etheris pounced around excitedly, ignoring the urge to pounce on Tatiana or Banana's tails. "I'll be alpha of the Etherian Pack!" Me, alpha?! That would be the best...
Breeze nodded a greeting to Banana. "Okay...what are the Packs you two are leading? And I've never met you before, what's your name?"
"I'm leading the Tatianan Pack," Tatiana woofed.

(Heh, sorry, haven't really got anything to say)

Banana bounced in place, tail wagging furiously. Yay! More wolves! "I'm Banana! I'm leading the... er... Banananan Pack. Bananan?" He resisted the urge to giggle.

I can't wait I can't wait I can't wait I can't wait! When are we gonna play fight?

Banana did a somersault, narrowly missing landing on his head, excitement basically bursting out of him like a fountain of water.

Speaking of that, I have never ever seen a wolf do a somersault.

Breeze opened her maw, details needing to be asked, then closed it again. Did that wolf just do a somersault...? You know what, nevermind. I don't think questions would do much in this...er...situation.
"All right, let's do this!" She assented, tail wagging excitedly.

Etheris threw his head back and let out a little awwoo-awoo battle howl. He thundered towards the center of the clearing, excitement pulsing through his neophyte body. A mock fight, this is great! I can practice some of the moves I've been working on! Banana and Tatiana are going down! "BRING ON THE BATTLE!"

Tatiana's eyes gleamed happily. She chased after her brother and Breeze, eager to begin the next phase of their game. I wonder how we decide who wins? Or maybe it'll be like the last battle the packs got into and nobody'll really win...huh. "Let's tackle them right away," she whispered to Banana, droppinginto a crouch, ready to spring.

[Njack]

Woo! Ninja time!

"Okay!" he whispered back.

Banana dropped into a crouch like a tightly wound spring just released, pouncing at Etheris like a rock. Wait a second... Just forget the similes, okay?

I hope the battle already began, but even if it hasn't... Oh, it's been broughten now. Er... brung. Brungen. Bringed. Whatever. It's on! :D

Banana let out a battle-rawr as he tried to pin Etheris to the ground or something. He didn't really know exactly what he was doing himself.

Etheris and Breeze took up defensive stances at the heart of the camp, but they were far too late; Banana's charge brought Etheris to the ground in a flash. Etheris gave a gruff yip of surprise, momentarily at the mercy to Banana's battering paws. Breeze braced herself as Tatiana lunged at her, and the two females collapsed into a rolling ball of fur, battling claws, and snapping fangs. Tatiana added her mock battle howl to Banana's, the howl all too happy for the occasions. Etheris came to his senses and began to batter back, worming his way out from beneath Banana and facing him face-to-face.
"What is the meaning of this, Banana?! My pack have done nothing that wasn't ethical and necessary!" He prowled around Banana in a threatening circle, Etheris' glittering eyes losing their eager, playful consistency and turning cold, venemous.
Tatiana and Breeze were still locked in a hyper, laughing fit of fur and flailing paws.

A few paws battered Banana on the head before Etheris managed to wiggle his way out.

Banana paced the same measured circle that Etheris was pacing, his eyes locked on Etheris. Banana's eyes were still sparkling with happiness, but his face was locked into seriously serious mode. "Your pack has been trespassing on the Tatianans' hunting borders, Etheris. The Tatianans cannot and do not take this slight lightly. My pack has decided to join them on this." Wow, that actually sounded regal-like. I should get a Superwolf cape or something!

He momentarily wondered what was going on with Tatiana and Breeze, since he thought he heard a lot of laughing.

Etheris prowled around Banana, tail lashing venemously at his words. To Banana, this was just a game. But Etheris was seeing something more; what if, one day, he was alpha and this was a real situation? What would he do? I can't let some stupid wolf walk all over my pack! There's no way I can put up with this! He let out a dark snarl and lunged at Banana once more, nothing of a game left in his mindset.

Tatiana and Breeze tackled each other about the clearing, both catching a glimpse of Etheris' latest lunge. They exchanged a worried glance, but merrily resumed their game. I hope he doesn't take this too far... Tatiana fretted.

Banana was rather bowled over. Like a bowling pin getting hit by a bowling ball in a bowling rink. Um... by someone wearing bowling shoes and a bowler hat. I think you get what I mean.

Banana briefly wondered what Etheris would look like with a bowler hat on, then was squished on the ground. He squirmed from under Etheris, then attempted to batter Etheris with a paw.

Yikes! I might be erm... what's a big word?... outmatched here!

Etheris did not let up his hold; the clearing transformed in his mind's eye. It was swathed in writhing wolves, battling in a flurry of fangs and claws. Blood dabbled the ground underpaw in crimson splatters. He wasn't just a mere neophyte anymore; he'd been upgraded to a wolven warrior earlier than most. Tatiana was still wondering, awestruck, how he managed it. But then all doubts would fall away as he valiantly conquered his opponent. Somewhere behind him, Tatiana and her foe were exchanging violent battle-howls, a match that sounded even. I need to help her...might as well take care of this one, first. They'll think he was a casualty of war. He raised a paw, moving in for the kill...

"ETHERIS!" The scream split through his battle-torn vision, and he discovered himsely with a paw raised atop Banana, his sister and Breeze rushing him from behind. Together, they knocked him away from Banana and barred the spacwe between them. Breeze was shocked, even fearful, but Tatiana...she was beside herself. Anger emnated from her every hair, betrayal painted on her face.
"What were you thinking?!"

Banana brushed himself off and finally managed to stand up on all four paws. Guess he didn't do enough squirming beforehand, eh?

Banana cocked his head to the side, unaware that he had been inches from certain death, imaginary or otherwise. Um... what happened? All he remembered was that Etheris was about to smack him in the face with a paw or something...

He peeked his head in the spot between Tatiana and Breeze. I wonder what's going on?
