(Yeah, this is the continuation thread from "Here Comes the Sun", but with three people, I didn't know how to title the open thing... ) "Come on, I think this is..." Banana trailed off, blinking at the inside of the alpha's den once again. Last time he had been here, he had played at being an alpha himself. Bananan Pack was a funny name. But enough of that. "It's the alpha's den!" He wheeled around, looking for the wolf he had met earlier out on the territories. "Come on! Let's ask the alpha to let you join!" Was the alpha even there? More importantly, what was Banana supposed to knock on in order to enter if there was no door? Oh well, too late, he was already in.

Amaterasu stepped into the Alpha's den cautiously. She took a curious sniff and pricked her ears forward. She was greatly curious to see what the alpha looked like, but she also feared seeing a scary wolf who ate loners for breakfast. Or, at least that's what her nightmares saw.
"What's your alpha like anyways?" she muttered.
She continued sniffing around, sensing no sign of threat or tension.

( You rang? ) The soft woofs of packmates lofted around her. The winter air sparked spitefully against her dry black nose, but she relished its coolness over her thick, flaming pelt. The pack was mostly quiet; the day was uneventful. Things were going on as they always had. Innoccently, two young'uns approached the gaping mouth of her den. Risisng warily from her bedding of moss and rabbit fur, she padded forward to meet them. The tangled mess of thought refused to take its heavy presence and leave her, though; every step she took towards the bright, unknowing neophytes, felt weighted and foreboding. They didn't know. Not yet. But they would....she would have to tell them...she would have to tell everyone all too soon... Bile rose in her throat as she remembered the sight of Toss' ravaged body. A pile of loose bones and fur, really...and blood. He'd been splattered in a torrent of blood. Hot wet stung at the corners of her eyes. My beta is dead."What's your alpha like, anyways?"Fireflight was now only a few apces in front of them. There, she sat with her tail curled loosely over her paws. With a forced smile, she face them. Well, these are our young...the hope of the pack, are they not? There were two of them; the first she recognized as the lively if not zany Banana, and next to him, a stranger. Her eyes rested curiously on the second, a gentle, but guarded smile on her maw. "Hello, Banana. Who's this?"

(you need a door for a doorbell D: )
Amaterasu jumped slightly and looked curiously at the alpha. Didn't seem so scary now, but it was always the inside, not the outside that counted. Something about looking at the alphess's expression made her tense. She glanced at Banana, wondering if he noticed. Probably not, though, that wolf always seemed to be over excited. She looked back at the alphess, tail twitching in excitement. Whatever seemed to be on her mind didn't matter, Amaterasu just hoped to be accepted into the pack.
"The name's Amaterasu. But some just call me Ammy for short."
She smirked, not being able to fully smile. Well, it was one of those smirks where one tries to look happy and expressionless at the same time. Of course, doing something like that never really worked...

Banana stared up at the alpha for a moment. Alphess, I guess. Hey, that rhymed!
It must have been a long moment, because he totally missed his stage cue. Er, just cue. That's what I meant. This is totally not a play.
Since Amaterasu had already said her name, he just kinda kept staring at the alphess, belatedly piping up with, "Oh, and she wants to join the pack!" His tail wagged excitedly.

Join the pack? Fireflight cocked her head slightly, copper eyes growing serious. "That is a very big decision," she murmured, her tone no longer light. She solely addressed Amaterasu, training the power of her eyes on the young wolf. "I'm curious as to how you came to such a decision? Pack life is not easy in the best of times, but right now, things are hard every day. We are hunters, and though prey may be scarce for some during winter, we grow strong on elk and deer. We have our advantages, but at this moment, my pack has no healer. Our enemies grow stronger each day, and I cannot promise you that you will die old and comfortable. Pack life is demanding....but in the end, it is worth it to most...seeing your pack victorious and healthy. Taking all of this into consideration, do you still feel the same way?"

Amaterasu had barely heard. She was sure she wanted to join a pack and nothing was going to change her decision. She loved being in a pack before, and she was desperate o be in one again. She had faced hard times in the past months and she was sure there couldn't be anything else hard to come her way. She did kind of prick her ears at the word 'healer'. What was that? someone who healed? She was definitely sure she faced worse than scarce prey during her time as a loner.
"I am sure I want to join! I've traveled months looking for a pack to accept me and it would be a pleasure if you take me in. I will try my best to be a strong fighter and efficient hunter to your pack! I will do anything I can to help. Just say the word!"
With that, she stood up straight, trying to act tall. Her ears pricked and her tail twitched with excitement and nervousness.

In spite of the serious tone of the situation, Fireflight couldn't resist a wry smile at the eager youngling. "Then you shall be trained as a neophyte with the other wolves of your age. After a moon or so here, it will be apparent if this is indeed the fit you have been searching for. I'm afraid I've never met any packs that are much life ours besides the others living in this valley, so it will be up to Banana to show you around camp and teach you about our different ranks and duties." She turned her glowing gaze to Banana, eyes retaining some of her former strictness. "Banana, I expect you to be detailed as you tell her of our ways." She stood, and with a shake of her fiery pelt, plodded towards the front of the den. It was time the pack knew....time for her to make announcements. "Amaterasu, we have abandoned our former ways of teaching neophytes and are experimenting with new ones. All of our neophytes will gather with myself and a few of our warriors for a group training session within the next few days. Welcome to the pack," she barked. She jaunted out of the den. The cloud over her features hadn't lifted completely, but there was determination there, and a fierce hope as she welcomed the newest member of her pack.

Banana grinned at Amaterasu. "That turned out well!" He bounced up to her.
He scratched his ear with his paw. "Oh yeah, I gotta show you around now or something... hmm." The smile slipped back onto his face. It was kind of a permanent fixture now, really. Kind of like doors. And windows. And permanent tattoos. Cuz, you know, that's why they're called permanent.
"What'd she say, anyway? Something like deetail... deertail? D tale?" Banana bounced to the exit of the den. "Come on, follow me then!"

((permanent tattoos aren't so permanent now because of lasers )) Amaterasu watched as the alpha left. She had many questions in her head, but she knew, or at least hoped, that she could ask Banana most of them. She was glad the Alpha was nice, but something strange kept pecking at her brain. She shrugged it off and thought whatever it was was just trying to freak her out. Soon, she herself was happy again when Banana's overenthusiastic reached her. Never being such a happy wolf herself, she decided she needed to be if her guide. Though, she didn't understand how anyone could be so happy.
"I think she said something about being detailed when you show me around."

"Oh, yeah!" Banana smiled at her. "Detailed! Um... Okay!" He probably didn't know what detailed meant. Oh well, can't blame him.
"So, uh, what do you wanna know?" His tail wagged furiously. "We're in the alpha den, but you probably know that already!"
He thought about it for a moment, then decided to keep talking because he felt like it. "We have an alpha, a beta, a pro... do we have... no, I don't... ummm." Banana scratched his head with his paw. "Anyway, we have a herb healer too! They help the other wolves or something!"
"And uh, we have dens to sleep in and stuff." He trotted out of the alpha's den, pointed vaguely in the direction of the sleeping dens, and then tilted his head at Amaterasu, wondering if she had caught everything, and if he had been "detailed"... whatever that meant.
"Oh! And we're called the Destinians!" He grinned.

Amaterasu looked at Banana with slight annoyance. She didn't say it aloud, but she knew she was going to have to find someone else to actually be more detailed. She continued to smile though, not wanting to waver the wolf's happiness.
(running out of muse, sorry)
