Mmmm....moose.... Mmmm...Euphrates... Mmmm...a beta who doesn't drop dead and/or vanish randomly....
In a nest of soft moss and rabbit fur, the flame-pelted alpha of the Destinians rested comfortably and dreamed lovely, warm dreams. Her mate was not with her now, but her nest still smelled of his prescence; her belly was full with the bounties of summer; Fireflight was not that concerned with who to name as beta now. In fact, all sort of concern seemed to shy away from her at this moment. As she rested in her lofty dream clouds, she did not have the heavy weight of being alpha upon her. Merely, she was just any old wolf. Better yet, she was the Fireflight she had been able to be before she'd been named alpha or even beta. Running through soft summer fields of swaying grass...
Entering the camp, Carolina felt her pulse quicken. Suddenly, the seeds of fear had grown into nasty weeds that threatened to choke her. My children will enter the war today. Will they live until its end? She peered around the camp, taking in all the wolves going about their daily, regular activites. There was soft conversation amongst friends as they ate together, neophytes playfighting and practicing their battle skills, and young lovers embraced together, eyes gleaming with a hopeful future. This can't be taken away. We have to strike now before they get stronger than they already are.... "Let's go," she barked to Burn. Slowly, she padded towards the alpha's den.

BurnNote nodded, and followed Carolina. A few wolves shot her and Carolina a few curious looks, but nothing too horrible. She just dipped her head to them, and followed the trodden path to the Alphas den.
--Crap. No muse.

(Darn! I have a ton 0_o )
Mmm....wait...eh? Fireflight's copper eyes flickered open to see the shapes of two wolves standing at the head of her den. It took her a moment to register that she'd passed from her carefree dream world into hardass reality. All right, I suppose the nap can wait for later...maybe Euphrates will be able to join me then. Fireflight blinked away her grogginess and slowly rose, shaking away the stray strands of bedding from her pelt. She stepped out of the nest and leaned inwards and outwards, stretching each leg in return as she did so. She rolled her shoulders back and yawned widely. All right, hit me. "Carolina? BurnNote? What's on your minds?"
Carolina stepped into the alpha's den. Somehow, Fireflight's cheery spirits made this all the more difficult. She opened her mouth to speak, but words were suddenly failing her. She looked helplessly at BurnNote, hoping the other fae would be able to explain. This is too much....it's happening all over again. We were rid of them for good, and they just came back. Almost exterminated, and each and eveyr one and then some was reincarnated... Carolina was only mildly aware that she was trembling.

(I think I've gots it back. Not sure. xD *battles with muse*)
She glanced at Carolina, and took a deep breath. She took a step forward, her muscles moving easily under her canvas. This was their chance to do something. "Fireflight, we come to you with news." She started, before humbly dipping her head. She had to get the message through, and Fireflight had already given her the okay to speak. "We come with a message from a new neighbor. The Blood Mists. The message is clear. They said that Blood Mist is back, and is here to stay for good. They also said not to make the mistake that just because they are back, and are all powerful again that they are just as they were before. They said this time things had changed. That they know their purpose now..." She stopped, and looked Fireflight in the eye respectfully. Then, she went on. "And they are prepared to do more than kill for it." She let that sink in, until she continued. "They also said that any one who crosses their border is theirs for them to do what they wish to. They have Phobia. They plan on including that term for her. And there's more." A grave expression crossed her maw, and she sighed. "They are watching you, and the high leaders. Their learning the pack, Fireflight. We are in...danger."

I have a feeling I'm not going to like what I hear... Fireflight's pelt preickled ominously as Carolina hesitated, then looked to BurnNote. Something's up. Something's wrong...more than just wrong, something's happened, something bad... Fireflight listened attentively, making no move to interrupt Burn as she spoke, even as the dread that swirled in her gut expanded and solidified into cold, hard, fear. She kept herself controlled, however; after the initial shock, her expression was grave and solemn, though she reeled with the revelations on the inside. How could all of this have happened so quickly? Well, in all honesty, the threat of Blood Mist being reawakened had never been fully adressed. They'd had enough time to make plans, but there really hadn't been a need to until now. There will always be crazy wolves in the world. I just didn't think they'd all be able to get together again. Slowly, Fireflight began to speak, "Well, this could mean a number of things. One, it could be a trick to lure myself and some of our warriors away from the terra as we go to converse with the other alphas. They could be planning to attack the rest of the pack while we are gone. Two, they could be daring us to attack; from the looks of it, we are unaware of their numbers and potential to do serious damage. And three...we are in danger and we should go for the throat now while we still might have a chance to disband them. Unfortunately, for us, all three of these options sound like they have some backing behind them." With a growing despair, she thought, and I really don't know what to do.
Carolina let herself fade into the background as Burn summarized their encounter with Blood Mist. When Fireflight began to weigh their options, Carolina felt a new surge of dread and fear. I didn't even think of that...this could be a trick. She's right, all three scenarios make sense. They were waiting for us to cross that border. Almost as if.... Could she really let herself think that? But now was the time to think out loud. "They were waiting for us, it seemed like. We were chasing after Phobia 'cause she ran off and it was storming. But she didn't keep running, she waited for us, and then crossed the border just when we noticed there were wolves across the edges of our terra. And then they came, and she disappeared into the other woods. What if they had somehow manipulated her to do their dirty work for them? Or perhaps she even did it willingly? Either way....I feel like she may have had something to do with it. That being said, they must have meant what they said when they told us they've been watching the alphas and all of the packs." She felt a shiver go down her spine at the thought. Spies in the Destinian Pack? "However, your other two points are valid also; they could be looking to ambush us the moment we cross over the borderline. But still, in the past we've always managed to outnumber them if we could get at least two other packs with us. The Yozorans are still recovering, but what about the Siverians and Sheerans? And yet again, this could all be a ploy to weaken the packs..." Carolina frowned deeply. It's all an endless circle with no end in sight...

She took a deep breath, and said "Fireflight, if I may speak. All of those things you have listed could very well be their plan. However, if we do not take action I have a feeling that we could be lost within the night. Please, take what I say very serious. This has happened to me once before, M'lady." She took a shaky breath, and said "They told me I was foolish. Within the night when the moon was high they attacked. Swarmed from everywhere. M'lady...what if they are planning to do all three of those things? To lure you and the others away from the pack, in an attempt to leave it vulnerable? Then, as you and the others cross the border to consult, you guys will be attacked as well. If we attack, we could be slaughtered, but it's our best chance at a fair fight. You need someone lead the brigade. You need someone who has the guts to give orders, and take them as well. Someone who will stay here, while another group sneaks their way to the border. In the dark of night. They will go tonight, and you and the other Alphas will consult tomorrow night. In the meantime, one brigade will stay here, and protect the rest of the pack. There, of course will be a few wolves with you. The wolves hidden out by the border won't show themselves unless trouble is afoot."
She took a moment to wet her lips, eyes closing for a moment. It had to work. It would work. "If trouble sounds, the wolves will instantly cover your sides, and flanks, and the wolves in the cover of the trees will attack, while the wolves with you will get you behind the brigade, and to safety. It's a long shot, But it will work." She fell silent now, staring at Fireflight.
--Heh! Brilliant plan!

Fireflight listened as both warriors spoke. All was definitely not lost -- within seconds, her packmates' minds were ticking right along with hers. She felt a warm burst of pride in her chest as she listened and slowly nodded, a glimmer of hope sparking in her copper eyes. No matter what happens from here on out, even if we have eyes watching on us, I know that there are true, pure warriors here. True Destinians. Destiny herself would've been proud to have them as her own. No, she does have them as her own. She is the mother of this pack. "I like what I am hearing," Fireflight barked after Burn had finished speaking. "I think you're both right; they definitely have eyes in here, and for this to work, we need to be a step ahead of Blood Mist. But either way, we need to do this fast and we need more bodies to make sure we're covered. I will not be able to leave here until we have the other packs ready to push forward into Blood Mist's territory. So, I will remain here. BurnNote, take some wolves with you and go to the border, but make sure you stay hidden. Carolina, I need you to go alone to the Sheerans and the Siverians and bring back wolves with you. It would be nice to have more coverage at the border, but we don't want to spread ourselves too thin. When Carolina arrives with wolves from the other packs, she can cover you as you push forward and serve as a second wave when the fighting gets tough or if Blood Mist plan an ambush-style attack." She paused, looking gravely from each wolf to the next. "If you are attacked before Carolina arrives, Burn, you'll have to do your best to hang in there before we can send in reinforcements. I will not be able to lead you into Blood Mist territory; if I were to leave at any time, the camp may be attacked. Carolina, please go now, but do not draw attention to yourself. Act as if you are going for a hunt."
Carolina dipped her head solemnly to her alpha, then turned and stalked casually out of the den, pausing to chatter with another warrior before she did so. She prayed they did not detect the note of hysteria in her voice.

She nodded, and humbly dipped her head. "It shall be done." And with that, she walked from the den, and down into the main camp. She looked around, wondering who she could trust, and who she could not. Finally, she cleared her throat. "I need a few border controls to come along with me. But first, you have to give me a reason on why you wish to come along." Authority rang in her voice. Unlike her companion, she was sure. Certain. Determined.

Fireflight found herself almost pleasantly delighted as the wolves went out to do as she instructed. She shrugged out of the den after them, expression revealing nothing of what had passed inside of her den. Let's just hope Carolina can run as fast as I remember. She felt a twinge of sadness at this. I can't lead my own pack into battle because of Blood Mist....they won't get us pinned like this again. Still Fireflight felt the uselessness frustrated her agile limbs. Besides her old friend, Svel, she was one of the fastest wolves in the pack. I should find Euphrates and see what he thinks about all of this...

BurnNote sat in the middle of the camp, her chasms pinned on the group of wolves that stood in front of her. She growled slightly, her eyes moving from each and every one of them. She tapped her tail impatiently, and licked her chest slightly. What was she going to do?
