A cool, crisp breeze swept a bout of cold across the mountain valley. They were in the deep of Autumn, when the last traces of summer have vanished completely and an omen of winter is hinted on the winds. The world was getting colder every minute. And evey minute, their enemies moved closer and rallying their allies grew more and more imperitive. Time was of the essence, and that meant the time to act was now. At the heart of the clearing, the flame-colored alphess watched her packmates with a burning determination in her gaze. Her heart beat quickly in her chest as she looked upon each and every face of her family, the Destinians. I will fight for each and every one of you like you are my own children...because it is my children that I am fighting for now. She turned and leaped in one fluid motion onto a tall rock that protruded from the heart of the clearing. Tilting her head, she let out a sharp howl that beckoned the others to come and gather. "Wolves of the Destinian Pack, please come for a pack meeting, as there is much that needs to be addressed and spoken of."

A shiver ran down the fae's spine, not out of her usual fear but of the bitter cold that gripped at her bones. Her amber eyes closed over with the cold, only wanting to escape it. Escaping something you can't. It's just cold weather Mahina! The thought rang through her head, but was it really cold she was escaping, or trying to run and failing at hiding from news that the alpha just announced she had? Anything could be spoken, and anything could bring anything. Slowly, as if an hours passing had gone by, she looked from the ground and to the rock, where her alphess sat. No move came to her, as the breezes tugged at her fur, with a gentle touch, but it feeling like the pull of a stray bullet.

Whisper trotted into the clearing where Fireflight called. Her strides long and elegant, she looked around to se other wolves arriving as well. Her fur stood on end as she suppressed a chilling shiver. Winter was getting closer.

Carolina padded out of the warriors den, not at all surprised to see Fireflight had called a meeting. She looked around at her packmates, but she was sure they wouldn't anticipate what they were about to hear. I wonder if everyone's realized BurnNote escaped from Blood Mist...I haven't gotten a chance to talk to her much, I really hope she's doing all right... She sat down next to Mahina, giving a small nod of hello to the other fae. She opened her mouth to say something, but resisted the urge to ask if the femme had heard anything. Fireflight's about to tell everyone, anyhow. Still, anxiety was making her restless.
Milly and Etheris filed into the meeting as well, both of their faces fairly troubled, though due to very different reasons. They sat amongst their fellow Destinians without speaking and looked up to Fireflight as they waited for her to speak.
Fireflight swallowed hard as she waited for her pack to gather. There were still a few stragglers that needed to come, but she decided to begin regardless -- they would be able to hear her. "My dear packmates -- there is a dire matter we must discuss. A little over two moons ago, we faced the Blood Mists wolves in a battle attempted to stop them from setting territory markers. Unfortunately, we were unable to shake them from their settlement and now they are becoming stronger than ever. Before the battle, a threat was revealed that Blood Mist has eyes within every pack. I cannot prove or disapprove this threat, but I know in my heart that each and every one of you before me is a loyal and faithful warrior that would fight to the death for the sake of your family. During the battle, our fellow warrior, BurnNote was taken captive. In a remarkable turn of events, one of her captors was persuaded to set her free and now she is restored to her rightful place -- home. However, BurnNote brought with her information that is rather disturbing. Blood Mist is specifically targeting the Destinian Pack. And so, we must rise to meet this threat. Tonight, I will go and request aid from the Yozorans to help us fight. In a week's time, we must take the offensive and show Blood Mist that we, the Destinians, are a formidable people and will not be conquered by the likes of them!"

As if on cue BurnNote rounded the corner, her bright blue eyes restored to the intelligence every one once knew. She still moved with a slight limp, and her battle scars were still visable, but at lease she was able to keep food down. She also was able to show up, and glance from Fireflight, to the pack, and then spotted Carolina. With quiet movements the redish colored fae made her way through the pack, moving silently. She wasn't going to speak unless she was asked by Fireflight. The dove had not been asked to speak, nor had she been asked to attend this paticular pack meeting, yet keeping BurnNote away would have been impossible. So, she took her seat, and gave Fireflight her undivided attention; as if she were just one of the others.

Fireflight's eyes rested momentarily on Burn, and the alpha offered her warrior a small nod. What was to happen next had been very well predictable, but nonetheless, Fireflight felt an unexpected strength soaring through her as she bade the warrior to step forth from the others with a flick of her tail. "BurnNote has proven an able leader, and a resourceful wolf who will stop at nothing for her pack. She is loyal beyond words, and has done her brothers and sisters a great service at the last battle and during her time as a captive. For these reasons, by the grace of Destiny and our ancestors, I name BurnNote as the new beta of the Destinian Pack."
Carolina sent up a wily yowl of approval. Usually, she refrained from such things, but Fireflight's call to arms had her caught up in the excitement of the moment. She turned to look at the new beta, eyes shining with pride for her friend and an explosive smile on her face. I called this.

Although it seemed as if everyone else knew that she would become Beta, the shocked expression that was written across her features showed that she knew nothing of this. As Fireflight spoke the words the young fae felt a pang of nervousness, and would have puked had she had anything on her stomach. For her sake, and as well as the others, she didn't, thank god. She grinned at Carolina, almost as wide, and vivid as her friends smile, and then looked up to Fireflight. Moving up to the front like Fireflight had beckoned her to do, she bowed her head to her Alpha. The limp was still there, but less noticable at the moment. She turned around to face the pack, yet still didn't say anything. She just fixed them with a kind gaze.

Fireflight allowed for a short pause of acknowledgement, but eventually silenced the murmur with a swish of her tail and resumed speaking of the pressing issues at hand. "I will be going to the Yozorans tonight to request their aid in our upcoming battle. If need be, we shall also involve the Sheerans and Siverians. However, though we are strengthened by our resolve, Blood Mist has set a target over the heads of all Destinians and Yozorans. Should the Yozorans falter, we will need allies as formidable as we to aid us in the continuing war. We, the Destinian Pack, shall stand strong against our enemies. We shall not fail, and we shall not fall. There is much preparation to be done -- rest and feed yourselves well this upcoming month, and be sure to brush up on your battle moves. Soon, we will go to take back what is rightfully ours from the wretched demons who call themselves Blood Mist." With that, Fireflight leaped neatly down from her rock, beckoned with her tail to Carolina, and started in the direction of the Yozoran territories. Her beta needed rest, and these had become touchy matters with Euphrates; a regular warrior would suit the task well.
