Hellfire grunted as he realized he was in trouble. Regulus did what he had wanted. Hellfire was thrown to the ground, and he cursed to himself as BurnNote took the moment to pounce. She was on top of him, biting down into his neck. She could tatse the metallic taste of blood, and that only caused her to bit down harder. Hellfire spat, and delivered a blow to her already bruised ribs, and a sickening crack was heard. BurnNote yipped in horror at the sound, and then realized Hellfire had her by the throat. He bit down hard, and blood exploded every where. Colors were washing over her eye sight, and she found she couldn't breath. The fiery red fey was dangling in the air, her claws digging at Hellfire, trying to get him to release her.
To her relief, she was thrown away from Hellfire, and toward Regulus. He was really only wanting to phase Regulus, because moments after he tossed BurnNote like a worthless piece of shit, he threw himself at Regulus, jaws wide open. What ever he got a hold of, he would hold on until he was either killed, or pried off.
BurnNote blinked a few times, before staggering to her feet. She couldn't see very well, but she knew, oh she knew, that the Destinians were going to pull back. Soon. Very soon. And if that happened, Blood Mist would live another day, and the Destinians would have to admit their defeat. BurnNote bowed her head, her throat bleeding immensely, yet she refused to back down until the order was given.

Sooty tears streaked over the blood-soaked pelt of the Destinian alphess. She couldn't bear to look Aradis in the eyes; her copper gaze had once burned with the brightest of flames, but now Fireflight felt a barren wasteland expanding inside of her, and she knew the flame inside had been doused. Should she turned and look at Aradis now, she would shake whatever resolve the new leader had mustered. Fireflight wasn't old, but she wasn't young anymore either. Her innocence had been assasinated long ago. Absently, she watched as a droplet of blood dripped from her pelt and hit the thin layer of snow and stain it red. Today, everything had changed. Her entire life, her entire being was altered from this point forth. She would never trod carefree like she once had, never again. If, one day, she saw the impossible beauty of her daughters' faces, she would still weep in her heart. She had promised them, as a mother silently does, she would always keep them safe. She had failed them, and she would be haunted forever. And if she didn't do something soon, she would be failing her packmates as well. In a stale voice, she croaked her response. "Aradis, I am sorry, but my warriors took a harsh beating before you or Kasie managed to arrive. If I don't pull them out soon, wolves are going to die. I don't mean to leave you and Kasie alone in this, but I don't think we can be of anymore help." Sighing softly, her voice cracked as she admitted, "To tell you the truth, my pack will be lucky if we get out of here alive. I know it isn't fair, I know we should stay and fight with you, but there are too many -- far more than there were before this. Unless you have an alternate option that may turn the tides in your favor before we retreat, I plan to call my wolves back in the next few moments. Those strong enough will stay if they wish." Fireflight remembered the Siverians that had been killed thus far and felt a painful twist in her gut. We will mourn them as if they were our own.
Neveria froze as Gossip made his move. Her eyes followed his figure as he began his retreat, still narrowed. Her only motion was to turn to keep him in her vision, otherwise, she remained perfectly poised. In a strange sensation of humility, Neveria couldn't bring herself to run after him. Gossip had fought his piece, and had known when to say when. Somewhere, locked in the forbidden places in her mind, a trickle of respect crept through the taint of her mind. Silently, she let him leave.
Paris matched Mahina's stare, a small smile breaking out onto his lips. This has turned from a physical fight to a battle of stares. Well, then, I suppose looks will have to kill.
Regulus' eyes narrowed by an undetectable degree. So this is how he wants to play the game, huh? Perhaps Hellfire expected Regulus to become crazed and discoordinated with rage? Hellfire was underestimating him. He had a heart, sure, but that didn't make him a pansy who couldn't handle blood. BurnNote was a big girl and knew how to defend herself. Hellfire seemed to think he could pit them against each other, but the Blood Mist was wrong; he was still facing two highly trained warriors, once who was beta of her pack and driven by vengeance, and another who had outlived him three times over and seemed to be stuck in a state of young adulthood for eternity. What are doing, big guy? What in the world got it through your head that you could take one of us out? Hell no! Regulus caught sight of BurnNote out of the corner of his eye. He was right; she wasn't dying. But one wrong move now could mean the end for her. "Go, get out of here," he growled harshly. She wouldn't run for fear of Hellfire, but maybe she would run if he told her to. Briefly, he remembered that moment before he'd let her go, he turned to her once, his eyes pleading silently for her to go, and then sprang forward to meet Hellfire head on. He aimed the blunt of his force at Hellfire's belly, hoping to knock him backwards. Pain seared through him as Hellfire's teeth lodged into his shoulder. He could only hope that BurnNote had had the sense to listen to him before Hellfire got a chance to make another move towards her throat.

BurnNote caught the glance, her eyes seeming to flash. Hell no! I'm not going to leave. She thought bitterly, but turned to look back at Fireflight. She sighed softly, and slowly began to back away from them. She could feel her heart swelling with hatred, and the fact that Regulus asked her to leave. She nodded slowly, and then turned, and sprinted the hell out of there. Her tail was waving wildly behind her, her eyes wild as she told herself to keep running. Fireflight, Carolina. She had to stay alive for the pack. She had other things to do, other than look after Regulus. Although, she would keep an eye out for him. She reached Fireflight, breathing hard. Regulus--is here. He--he's taking care of Hellfire--for me. What do you need me--to do?[/i] It was true, BurnNote was bleeding bladly from the throat, but she wasn't going to to give up. No matter what. Her pack came first. She looked over the battle field, and then looked once more to Carolina, her old friend. She nodded to her softly, before glancing back the way she had just took flight from.
Hellfire and Regulus were going to fight to the death. One of them were going to tire, and one of them were going to die. She knew that much. She only prayed that it wasn't Regulus. Even though she knew that he wasn't good for her, she couldn't help but feel the way she did feel about him. Hellfire was her brother. He was supposed to look out for her. To be a big brother, and be the shoulder to cry on, to protect her from guys like Regulus. Funny twist to her life, eh? Regulus was actually having to protect BurnNote from her brother, even though Regulus was potentially the worse thing that could have ever happened to her, yet he was also the best thing. He was so annoying sometimes, and she just wanted to ring his neck, but then, he was like this. He didn't want her, but no one else could have her either.
~++**++~
Hellfire sneered as he watched BurnNote take flight. So, the bitch does know how to take orders, doesn't she? So what is this now, friend? A fight to the death? You can't die, and neither can I, so are we just going to be arch-enemies for the rest of our pathetic lives? Like it or not, you are still a Blood Mist. It courses through your veins, and it's not like you can drain your blood. Hellfire was just trying to mess with his head. To piss him off, because that's what Hellfire did best. Hellfire dodged the attack, yet didn't move quite far enough so the force hit him in the side. There was searing pain for a moment, but he regained his balance, and whirled around to face Regulus once more. Pure hatred was seen in his eyes, contempt for this brute who butted in for some reason, and he was starting to doubt the reason was solely because of BurnNote. She must have had a big part of it, but it couldn't have been the whole reason. Perhaps it was because Regulus and Hellfire had never gotten along, and ever since the scuffle in the mountains when Regulus saved that one fey, they have decided to hate each others guts.
Perhaps it was because Hellfire was young, and believed he could whoop Regulus' ass. If you want to know the truth, this was indeed what he believed. Yet, it must also have to do with his cocky, bastard like behavior that caused Regulus to hate him so. He didn't care very much, he didn't want the old man as a friend any ways. Hellfire smirked, and said Shall we stop playing these foolish games? And with that, he sprinted forward, his main focus of this attack to inflict some type of injury on Regulus. The easiest place was to either pounce on his back, and latch on to the scruff of his neck, or to use blunt force on his ribcage. Those were both very good options, both equally effective as well. He snarled softly, and hurled his body at Regulus's side, hoping the wiser brute didn't see it coming.
--Haa....Hellfire called Regulus an old man. XDD

Aradis let her ears fall, a tear streaming down her cheek. "Blood Mist is stronger than any of us could have ever expected." She looked to the battlefield, maybe, those wolves that slowed down were Blood Mist? "This battle wasn't supposed to happen today, maybe it'd be best if we give them this victory. We always have another chance to stop this."
Mahina felt her legs shake beneath her, the battle was really starting to take it's toll on her. The sun had long vanished, leaving only darkness and blinding now. Slowly, she rose from her position, nodding her head to Paris before wincing in pain. Slowly, she turned, limping away.
(I think I'll go ahead and call myself out of this battle, my wolves had to give up before they got themselves killed.)

Fireflight looked up sharply in alarm. The Siverians were drawing out, now, too? It made sense, Fireflight had to admit. They'd suffered heavy losses, too, but what about the Sheerans? They were barely into the fight and could hardly be expected to hold out very long on their own -- they'd be annihilated. Their retreat would have to be a careful, planned one. And it would have to be a plan that they came up with in the next few moments. Fireflight looked around, but she couldn't see the Sheeran alphess anywhere; perhaps she was still in the fray. Frowning deeply, she blinked gravely back at Aradis. "I don't know where Kasie is, but we can't leave her here to be drowned out. We've lost this battle, that much is clear, but if we're leaving now we'll have to be able to help the Sheerans get out, too, otherwise we give them a death sentence. Can we keep a few of the stronger warriors to help the Sheeran defensive line and pull the rest of our forces back to the brush?" Fireflight's stomach turned uncomfortably. What would stop the Blood Mists from simply plowing onward and annihilating all in their path? Nothing. "The majority of us are too weak to continue," Fireflight admitted, "but we can't just abandon the Sheerans completely when they came to help us." Mentally, she thought of the warriors who would qualify to stay. BurnNote came to mind, but she was bleeding profously from a wound in her neck. Her eyes caught Mahina's retreating form. Fireflight winced inwardly; she knew already that her plan wouldn't work. They would have to hope they'd done enough damage to the Blood Mists that the Sheerans would be able to make a safe retreat. Anger sparked in her blood as she thought of Bain's refusal; he'd condemned this battle as a useless one, but if he'd shown up with the Yozorans, the brave warriors of the Sheeran, Siverian, and Destinian packs who'd given their lives might still be alive right now. "We tried our best," she sighed softly.
Carolina watched the seen in horror; the Destinians were already being forced back even though the call had not been given. They had no choice; whether it was from exhaustion or injury or a combination, her packmates were spent. She looked for her son, Etheris, but couldn't see him in the tangles of wolves. Carolina still didn't know he'd betrayed them. As she watched, she wept softly. The clearing was a mess of ash and snow and blood.
Paris gave his adversary a curt nod; it was a draw between them, really. Both had fought for a long time without rest, and now both warriors removed themselves from the scene of war. Paris turned and ducked away into the depths of Blood Mist territory.
Solaris, after sending Bloodsbane screeching into a retreat, looked around him in dismay. The Siverians and Destinians seemed to be pulling back; any minute now, he would hear Aradis and Fireflight giving the signal for retreat. He looked around for Kasie, but couldn't find her in the fray. Growling in determination, Solaris whirled around tore after another Blood Mist enemy -- Nepthys. The two collided and rolled in a mass of fur and claws. The Sheerans will fight on!
A fresh line of Blood Mists surged from the undergrowth; Arkantos, Enferian, Phobia, Crimson, and Snare pelted forward into battle.
Regulus blinked back at him, his classic smirk never faltering. "Look, buddy, if you wanna call your life pathetic, go ahead, but speak for yourself. I've been partying it up for quite some time now. I must say, I quite enjoy life. And as far as this arch-rivalry thing you're talking about, well, I suppose I'll have to see if I can fit it into my busy schedule." He snorted in contempt as Hellfire came at his side once more -- the brute seemed to be recycling the same moves every few seconds. Regulus twisted before Hellfire reached him so they were face-to-face. Snarling coldly, Regulus charged head-on into the brute. The impact left him winded and dazed, but he managed to stay on his paws despite the ominous cracking sound from his shoulder. "What's the matter, Hellfire? Can't stand to look at me and know how pathetic you are compared to this?"

Aradis shot her head around to see as a new line of blood mist wolves charged into the battle, her eyes widening. "Anyone who wishes to stay can help the Sheerans retreat. But we have to get out of here as quickly as possible."
Mahina stopped dead in her tracks as she saw the new line of Blood Mist wolves throw themselves into the battle. Pinning her ears back, she ducked into the bushed, crawling through the undergrowth until she reached Aradis and Fireflight. She came to a stop beside Fireflight, laying the grass, holding her paw against her shoulder. "We need to get out of here."

Fireflight's eyes widened. Before, they had underestimated Blood Mist by a long shot, but she could see their side of the battlefield still teeming with fresh Blood Mist wolves -- more than seemed possible or probable. "How in hell did they get so huge?" She watched open-mouthed as a new line advanced. She turned to BurnNote with determination on her features. "BurnNote, I need you to round everyone up and take them back to camp unless they insist on staying. I will join you shortly, but I'm going to stay and fight a while longer." Even as she said it, Fireflight wondered if it was wise to keep herself in the battle. She'd already lost two lives in this battle, leaving her down to eight. She was exhausted, but luckily for her most of the blood on her pelt was Assyria's and not her own. I can take another fight if it means buying the Sheerans some time. Swallowing hard, Fireflight sent up a shrill howl of retreat into the air just as she charged forward to meet the approaching Blood Mists.

Aradis followed Fireflight's howl, struggling not to cut herself off as she saw the Destinian alphess throw herself back into battle. Slowly, Aradis also got up, looking around carefully. Her gaze landed on Phobia, and with a snarl she launched herself at him, aiming at his side, jaws open and trying to catch anything in her fangs.

(Phobia's a girl ) Phobia shrieked a snarl as Aradis came at her with extended claws. The she-wolf, and ex-Destinian, was small and fragile, but nimble on her paws; she darted away from Aradis with quick paws, though the alphess managed to open a cut in her side. Spitting in fury, Phobia whirled on Aradis with hateful eyes. "You are an abomination -- you soil the magnifience that we have created here!"Fireflight launched herself at Crimson, and the two went rolling down the slope exchanging blows and furious shouts. The remaining three -- Arkantos, Snare, and Enferian -- exhancged swift glances and curt nods. They all turned and disappeared into the brush. A moment later, they reappeared on one of the slopes that the Blood Mist guard had perched on at the start of the battle. Smirking, the three rammed into one of the remaining boulders on top the hill, and let it roll down towards the retreating wolves. As the boulder neared them, Carolina screamed in fear. "LOOK OUT!" Instinctively, she rammed into BurnNote in an effort to move her packmate out of the boulder's range. They're not going to let us leave, are they?

(I'll try to remember that, you just have to many wolves to keep track of xD)
Aradis only growled, daring to let her gaze fall on the boulder that rolled down the hill. Without a word, she lunged forward again, threatening to hit Phobia head on, but turning at the last moment to push her towards the boulder with her paws. Along with doing this, she kicked out with her back leg, hoping to hit Phobia on the joint in her back legs.
(In case your wondering, I got the joint hitting from Warriors ^.^)

( Lol, that's alright, I'm just used to keeping track of a lot of wolves so it comes a little more natural for me, I think ^^ )
The swift neophyte ducked in time to avoid being pushed toward the boulder, but her legs, though quick, buckled under Aradis' attack. She felt flat onto her belly, hissing and spitting, and began snapping furiously at Aradis' legs and she pushed herself to a slow stand. Her pelt was fluffed in agitation; she had the appearence of a rabid feral cat rather than a wolf (but that's Phobia for you).
Carolina, who was still attempting to push BurnNote out of the boulder's path, shouted furiously to Mahina. "Get out of the way, it's coming straight for us!"
Fireflight and Crimson continued in their deadly dance, but though Fireflight was weakened, her resolve strengthened her. Crimson had never been the best of fighters and the task of taking down the Destinian alphess, who had slain Assyria only moments before, was daunting to her. Crimson took uncertain swipes at Fireflight, and Fireflight parried easily and delivered harsh, confident blows in return. Slowly, she drove Crimson back.

(Why do I get my hopes up of "Yes I got it this wolf!" when you just hit that right on the nose and ruin my plans? xD)
Aradis quickly leaped away from Phobia, getting a few cuts and scratches on her paws and legs from her snapping. She couldn't help but laugh to herself when Phobia seemed to turn into the cat, but, Aradis was just like that. Slowly, she began to circle the fluffed up wolf, a mocking grin spreading along her features.
Mahina, unknowing of the boulder, scrambled out of the way, getting a glimpse of the large stone out of the corner of her eye. She looked up to the culprits, seeing as they were not tangled up from the battle. Damn.

A slight rustle made her turn around to face a form that would have scared her to the brink of insanity before she recognized the faint scent emanating off of it. It was Winter and her heart clenched. Sure Arachna's scent was all over the fae, but Winter was easy to figure out if she took away all the damage.
Featherswift's eyes looked at her as she battled over her decisions. She had come to the idea she needed to kill Winter and that was what she had to do. Please forgive me Golden One and understand it is for the good of Sheeran pack, she prayed.
Her head fell down as she raised her hackles. A growl formed as her teeth were bared. There was no where Winter could run freely towards her pack. She could go through the fire and be cooked or escape it and run into the fray. A plan smudged her heart, but she knew it was too risky. No, she had to do it right now!
Featherswift ran at Winter, mouth agape, ready to tear into the throat of her pack mate. "Forgive me!," she barked.

BurnNote nodded, and sprang into action, ready for anything and any one. She and Carolina were a team, and thank god for that. BurnNotes attention snapped up to the boulder that was rolling toward them, it's great weight easily crushing anything that found it's way beneath it's path. She gulped, and felt Carolina's crushing blow come to the side. She could feel herself tumbling out of the path, and to the side. Muttering slightly, she staggered to her feet, shaking her head. The dust was heavy, almost like a fog. Where am I? She thought to herself, not entirely sure herself what she was doing. She looked from the battle, and into the distance, seeming to be very much interested in everything but the battle. It's never going to end, is it?
Hellfire snarled, and staggered backwards a little at impact. He shook his head, and launched himself forward, meeting him head on yet again. I'm sorry. I'm just not used to looking you so close in the face. you should really find something to cure that rancid breath. He snorted, lowered his head just before impact. But...why? He could have had a grip on a vital part of his body, and it would have been done, over with. Yet, Hellfire was finding new ways to use his tricks. He had forgotten that Regulus was a seasoned fighter. As he came up upon Regulus, he threw his weight on his hind legs so he was standing on them. His hope was that he had slammed some part of his body against Regulus's head. If that succeeded, he would spring forward, and take the infuriating brute to the sod.

(Fine, I'll post just cause I'm bored and can't stay away but it would make me glow to see like a page of lovely writing to read. I'm not asking you to work, I'm asking you to explore each others' characters and have a little bit of fun ) Blue eyes opened wide and bloodshot as the killer came at her. There was one moment, one instant -- enough for just one look of fear and betrayal before death slit her throat and left her lifeless. That one look, through such horrified eyes, had a message locked in its depths; it said: I know who and what you are. You are not a wolf. You are a monster, and you're going to hell. Blood leaked from the femme's once pearly white throat. Eventually, her head slumped to the side, but her eyes remained wide opened and fixed in an eternal stare of hatred and accusation. Those eyes, an impossible shade of winter's blue, bore right into her murderer's frame with just a flicker of fear. The rest, perhaps, was a wistful regret. She had no choice but to leave this world behind, and leave her poor children alone in an unfriendly universe with a killer just a short walk away from them. As the soft snow fell from the bruised brown clouds above, Winter died in the cold embrace of the frigid winds. Breathing fast, Carolina blinked wearily to BurnNote. She had all reason to be filled with hate at the sight of her torn throat, but instead, Carolina found herself grateful for the presence of her friend. They were both alive, and Fireflight, though battered, was alive. And her son, Etheris, he was--- Carolina collapsed with a shrill shriek, eyes stretched wide in disbelief. "No, no, oh Twilight no!"A moment after Mahina had cleared the boulder safely, Etheris leaped at his packmate with outstretched claws. He was battered and wounded, but his eyes saw the blood on her pelt and longed for more of it. He ran at her and tore into her limbs viciously, not even flinching at his mother's scream; Etheris had betrayed his birth pack, and he intended to do so fully and brutally. As Aradis circled her, Phobia mimicked her smile with a twisted one of her one. "You think yourself wise, alphess, well, I'd think again. You know little of this world. You are a novice in the ways of blood and war, you, who laid down before while your packmates bled on the terra. Don't think everyone didn't see you -- we did, we did. Everyone saw, and everyone will remember -- Aradis, the weak, the frail leader who can't even fight for her pack. Aradis can't do shit!"Clad in smirk and mischeif flashing in his dark eyes, Regulus side-stepped Hellfire's head-on attack. As the brute stood up on his hindlegs, Regulus rammed towards his side to disable his balance. There was something strangely wrong about Hellfire, or it would seem so; so many head-on attacks and rams to his side -- what was he thinking to accomplish? He knew Hellfire had it in him to be a sophisticated and unpredictable fighter, so what was throwing him off of his game? Flashing a crooked grin, he said sweetly. "Really, you don't like it? The ladies do. You know, Hellfire, at least I saved my doll. Wasn't yours disintegrating into ash a few moments ago?" He nodded to wear Assyria's body had been moments before. Regulus watched him carefully, wondering if he'd calculated correct and found a weakness in the dark brute. (Sometimes you gotta give up plans in favor for being spontaneous, Fai If it helps, Aradis is fighting a crazy chick who previously betrayed the Destinians.)
