Tisana nodded. Peculiar...
Tisana went to speak with Tessita. She told her of how Shasta was and blamed it on rabies. Tisana wasn't so sure, though. Like herself, she questioned the diagnosis. She was almost sure that Silence could tell her what it really was..

Silence hesitated, the urge to break her vow almost killing her. No....she would find a different way to warn Tisana....but how? She knew the healer could sense her uneasiness...

Tisana's eyes narrowed. "What's wrong, Silence?" She could feel the fae's (UGLY!! XP) unease.

( Oh, a btw, let it be known that FAE is NOT FRENCH XD ) Silence sighed, glancing at Tisana. The remnants of a clementine caught the corner of her eye. She picked it up and set it at Tisana's feet, colorless eyes never leaving the other healer's. Closing her eyes, she willed her thoughts through to her, wondering if the old legends of telepathy would work. Keep it close Tisana. You are one piece of nine.Silence left the den with one last, meaningful glance at Tisana.

Tisana blinked and glanced at the fruit at her paws. She was sure she had heard... She shook her head. You're going crazy, Tisa...

Robin coughed awake in the back, blood oozing from her lips. She groaned with the pain of her injuries, eyes blinking slowly open. And then it hit her. Shasta was dead. He'd tried to kill her.

Tisana dashed over to Robin. "Shhhh... It's okay. You're okay."

"No....NO!" Robin shook her head violently. "It's not okay! NOTHING is okay!" She closed her eyed, weeping pitifully.

Tisana nuzzled the weeping neophyte. "I know. But it WILL be okay. Just calm down. Apparently, the Golden Wolf is looking out for you. Be thankful you weren't killed."

"No...no....no..." she breathed, energy depleting swiftly. Her eyes were red and bloodshot, tears welling up in the corners. "But I couldn't save him! I can't save any of them! I'm worthless!"

Tisana's voice hardened, along with her eyes. "No you're not. I never want to hear you say that again, Robin. Robin, I can't even save them. Do you know how hard it is for ME to go every day thinking I'm a failure? That my pack is going to die because of it?"

"But don't get sick!" Robin exclaimed, exasperated. "It's like this thing --- this sickness --- is a monster. And it knows us all down to the hairs on our pelts. It knows we're all vulnerable to it. It knows how to attack and take a hold of us. But it isn't stupid. It knows who isn't able to be taken down. And you, Tisana, cannot be taken down."

Tisana's eyes widened as she remembered what that tiny voice in her mind had said... You are one peice of nine...
No. It was impossible. It was a disease for Lupus's sake! How could a person be protected from it? Knowledge? Strength? But she knew it was true. Of course she looked bad, but her eyes were still bright, unlike Robin's eyes, or anyone else's either.

Robin said nothing, but fell into a deeper, less disturbed sleep. Exhaustion and physical labor had finally caught up with her. Sleep enveloped her in comfort and tenderness.
The loud, husky breathing of the sickly echoed through the den, but one less carried on this rhythm. Pepper was motionless in his nest.

Tisana's lips pressed in a hard line. She sighed, picking the pup up by it's scruff and placing it's body gently in a secluded corner of the herb den. After done with that, she quietly cleaned up Shasta's body, placing it beside Pepper. She sighed wistfully. They looked as if they were sleeping. She only wished they were...
