Robin rushed in and out of the den, tending to its numerous occupants as well as she knew how. Her tired lids threatened to slide shut on her countless times, but she pressed on regardless. Her fur was worn and ragged, coming off in large clumps. She hadn't had time to see to her own symptoms;; she was too busy trying to fix everybody else.
Only nothing helped! The celmentines were usually magic, yet, not even the long-honored remedy would cure these tainted wolves of their pains. Besides the general emotions of an herb healer, Robin feared for her brother.
Her mother and Romeo were gone. Soot was the proxy -- between their seperate duties, they scarcely had time to speak. Shasta had made a point of visiting her, and in reality he was her deepest, and only, best friend. She would be lost with out him. And she already felt lost. She couldn't do anything to at least ease his passing. At this point, she knew he was going to die. Despite the way she prayed and begged to the Golden Wolf and the Twilight Wolves each night, no herb would cure him. And so she had failed. She'd let him die. Tears welled up in her eyes and she leaned up against the den wall, cough, sobbing, and choking on her own sorrow. Blood gushed from her throat, and her eyes widened with horror. No...no...I can't die...I need to help them...please...I need to know how to do this... She stood and shakily began distributing herbs, blood still flowing from her throat.

(sure Siv, kill my neophyte while Tisana's away. XP She's gonna die. XP Really. She'll make sure a wolf is made new neophyte right away... I wasn't going to use one of my own, but who else am I supposed to use? hmph. Oh, and Tessita's pups need to be made neophytes, and so do Holly's pups. And Crow. And maybe I should let that other pup stay for awhile. That one that Sirius dropped off. What's it's name, anyway?)

(I'm not killing Robin, dumbbutt....I'm taking her to the brink of death XD Nah...I'm killing a few others....& you're the leader so you take care of that ) Shasta's crusted eyes blinked open. He was hungry, oh so hungry.... But tired. If he wanted prey he would have to take down something weak.... A small, devil smile grew across his maw. Yes, she would do.... The emaciated, sickly character rose stiffly to his paws, staring at Robin as she turned and fretted with uneasy sleep. All at once, anything that had remotely held him back, snapped. Raucous roaring filled the den, the camp, and sent birds flying from their perches. Robin's eyes snapped open to find Shasta's foamy mouth just inches from her face. "HELLLP!" She screamed, dashing out to the side. She made it out of the entrance, but she could feel his hot breath on her neck. "SOMEBODY HELP ME!" She was desperate, tears blinding her. She could not bring herself to strike him. But this...this wasn't her brother! He pinned her down and sank his white fangs into her thinned fur.

(eek... who could help her? hmmm... idk someone random, of course... lol)
Tessita ran in, leaping on Shasta. "STOP IT!" She pinned the wolf down. Her symptoms were only beginning. Her eyes widened. "Oh my God..." Her claws tightened on Shasta's side. She sent a pitiful glance at Robin.

Scars seared through Robin, and she fell back out of helplessness. There was no one...and she would die at the paws of her brother. The faintest spark of hope touched Robin when Tessita appeared, but how exactly had Shasta lost it? How much would it take to make him break...? Did she even want to know...?
Shasta thrashed and kicked out wildly as claws embedded themselves in his flanks. He let out a low, hellish snarl and snapped at Tessita's tail.

Tessita growled and struggled to keep her hold on Shasta. She took a ragged breath. How... why... what was happening? What am I supposed to do?
She knew what she should do, but she just couldn't bring herself to.

Shasta squirmed, turning and pinning Tessita flat. His wild, crazed eyes glared down at her with bloodlust and pain. a fast-flowing torrent of blood issued from his throat, but his ripping into her sides nonetheless....
What was that? A pulse? A heartbeat? Whatever it was, it was going way too fast. Even in the sickness-tainted air, she could scent it...no, TASTE the death. Creeping forward, and stifling a battle-cry, Silence leaped onto the back of the victim, taking him down and rolling through the dirt. She was old, and her bones ached with the exhaustion that her search had brought, but she was also determined and relentless. She put all of her wieght and force on the wolf's throat, not cutting, but choking. A fountain of blood shot up from his mouth, but his blows soon became lighter untill they were nonexistant. His eyes flashed with apnic and pleading, then, on the edge of death, realiztion and horror. Shasta was dead.
Stepping back, Silence closed her eyes with grief, resting her nose on Shasta's. May he go in peace, she thought, longing to say the words aloud. The elderly healer glanced back at Robin, now unconsious. Silence knew how to treat her, but Tisana would still need to be fetched. She glanced at the neophyte den, then retrieved Saskia. A few flicks of her tail sent the neophyte dashing from the camp and full speed.
Silence gigerly carried Robin into the herb den, then glanced to see if Tessita needed help getting there, too.

Tessita shook her head. The blows were strong, but she would live. Only a few scratches. "I'll wait. I have to go see to the pups." Her side was bleeding heavily, but it didn't matter. One life for 9...

Silence nodding, swiftly returning to the herb den and sifting through the stores. Where was it? Had they neglected to use it alltogether, or had they just run out? Last she heard Tisana was particularly fond of the fruit....ah yes, there it was. She took some cobwebs and blotted the blood from Robin's pelt. She retrieved some marigold and applied it gently to the young wolf's wounds before wrapping them with cobwebs. She was awake now, but only just. She took advantage of this and fed her the clementine, offering some tansy, poppy seeds, and honey with it. Robin took her dosage and fell into a sorrow-stricken sleep.
Silence leaned back, cursing herself. How many more would have to die? How long until she could speak? Where were they? Where were the nine...?

Tisana ran into the den. "ROBIN!" she yelped. "Wh-" she stopped when she smelled the blood and saliva. She followed the scent, finding Shasta's body. She returned. "W-what happened?"

Saskia merely shook her head. She'd been speaking with a neophyte in the resting dens when it had happened, and the two of them had taken cover in there. She returned to the nursery, shaken and troubled.
Silce poked her head out of the den, beckoning to Tisana with her tail. Her expression was grave and worried, but a new interest now pricked in her tired optics. There was something about Tisana....something different.

Tisana padded up to Silence. "Yes?" Her voice was clear and her eyes were bright. Her fur was shiny, dispite the bones sticking out. Her breath held no scent of sickness.

Silence hesitated, opening her mouth to speak, then shutting it quickly. Not yet, she reminded herself. She motioned towards Robin, laying in a nest towards the back of the den. She then nodded towards the nursery, trying to say that Tessita could explain things better, but not sue if Tisana was really understanding.
