Coldfire stopped walking. His eyes turned skyward and closed. His mind went back to the river. Lost in a sea of bone-chilling darkness, no air, no light. Drowning. Light, air, stinging cold. His pack laying dead when he returned. Bloodlust too uncontrollable to stop. Madness. Fury at the world. Hate for living. A shudder passed along Coldfire's spine, making his great form ripple. Coldfire opened his eyes, gazing at the cold, distant moon. "I'd kill again" Coldfire murmured.

Luin stopped when Coldfire did, eyeing him suspiciously. At hearing him murmer about killing again, she asked quietly, "What?" All wolves killed something, but why was he acting so strange about this?

Coldfire's blazing pools glared through the darkness at Luin though they seemed to have lost some of their luster. "All wolves face madness. Some embrace it and kill anyone in sight. Others repress it so it becomes nothing more the spurts of bloodlust taken out on prey or in battle. I've done too much killing to stand in the ranks of my kin." Coldfire turned and started back toward the shadowy valley, away from Luin. His heart was heavy but his face expressionless.

Luin was startled. Was that why he never made a single expression? She went after him. "Well..." the fae struggled with her words. "You're a different wolf than that, in my eyes. What you've done in the past is over and gone, and you can't let it haunt you in the present." Luin had done things she, too, regretted, but she was able to move on anyhow.

Coldfire's visage flickered with a mix of annoyance and curiousity but it was gone in a heartbeat. Coldfire stopped, turn his crown and gazed at Luin with his piercing gaze. "Why follow me? I'm nothing but what's left of yesterday. Why waste your time haunting the steps of a wolf you don't know?" His voice gave away nothing but fine hintings of curiousity. Coldfire couldn't understand how Luin could stand trailing him all the time when it seemed, he was nothing more then a depressed loner. It made him curious, his fur tingle and his stomach knot.

Luin was even more startled. She answered, with almost a hint of anger and defiance, "You allowed my company only a moment ago, and now you question it. If I have made any offense in that I'm trying to annoy you, it was done unconsciously. I'm only able to stay talking to you because your character hold my attention."

Coldfire nodded slowly, not looking at Luin now. "Interesting" he murmured. Most wolves, especially young ones, were intimidated by his large build and well, his cold character. Coldfire had never really cared until, well, now. For some reason, the fact that Luin put up with his odd behavior made him curious. She was a unique wolf indeed. Looking back at Luin, Coldfire allowed only a hint of amusement to creep into his eyes. "You are an unsual fae though my charm will wear off in time."

Luin grinned. "Charm? What charm?" she joked.

Coldfire actually managed to smirk before turning and continuing to walk. His tail flicked behind him as he moved. So Luin had a sense of humor? What wolf didn't nowadays? That was one reason Coldfire kept away from other wolves, their troublesome sense of humor. Now however, Coldfire didn't mind Luin's joking and sarcasam.

Luin kept pace with Coldfire. He seemed to have a habit of stopping and going between conversing with other wolves. He didn't take many questions lightly, and was interesting in that way. For a few seconds, neither spoke. All the sound there was were the feint ones of the surrounding forests, and the quiet ruffling of the grass from the wolves' passing pawsteps.

For a long while, Coldfire contented himself in silence. He marvled at the fact that Luin was actually walking with him rather then turning the other way and running off, like everyone else had. Coldfire took responsability for that. Who would walk beside a murdering wolf? Maybe...maybe Luin didn't care? What was done was done. Coldfire couldn't change what he had done but he could try to make up for those he had killed.
Coldfire paused, ears pricked. A wide brook bubbled past up ahead. Coldfire padded toward it, wading through the chilly waters. His thick coat protected him from too much of the chill but it was belly deep on him which meant it would be deeper on Luin. Coldfire paused on the bank and looked back to make sure Luin would make it across.

When Luin came to the brook, she walked right in and the water went up to her neck in four steps. The fae kicked her way across the stream, against the currents that pulled her further down, and made it up the other side. Luin shook herself dry upon getting fully onto solid ground.

Coldfire watched the fae but suddenly, his ears stood tall, pricked and muscules tensing under his thick peltage. Coldfire's well crafted crown turned and a thunderous growl rumbled from his chest. The brujo's tail rose and his eyes narrowed, lips curling back to show his foramtable fangs.
A large black bulk padded toward them from the forest, flaming amber pools alight in the intense darkness. He too was growling, tail raised. His eyes flicked to Luin and a wicked, sickening smile curled his night-shaded maw. It was a rouge, a forcer who captured femmes and kept them as his 'pack'.

When Luin sensed the oncomming Rogue, she tensed up and snarled at it, barring her teeth as Coldfire did. Rogues like this were dangerous to her, but she didn't fear them as much as others did. Stepping a little closer to Coldfire for support against the attacker, her ears flattened against her skull.

The black rouge snarled low and glared toward Coldfire. Coldfire deepened his growl, tail raising. The rouge leapt forward. Coldfire sprang to meet him. Coldfire's strong jaws latched onto the brute's muzzle, balancing on his hind legs and overpowering the rouge. The rouge snarled and thrashed, trying to break loose. Coldfire snarled deep in his chest, ignoring the paws battering at his shoulders.
