Siveria rested with open eyes on a col, grey stone. Her eyes, blue as coldfire, flickered around the realm, silently observing. Something had been on her mind since the moment she'd joined the dead: Had Verlust really been forced to Tartarus? The fae HAD done some good, hadn't she?
(I wonder what Verlust will think of Lupus/Rhain XD )

(lol, let's watch XD)
A white orb floated silently through the air. It was wispy, but, alas, light. He froze midair, however, when it saw Siveria not too far away. Then, slowly, it lowered itself, becoming a large wolf once more. Verlust smiled, padding up to a nearby rock and settling herself on top of it. "Long time no see," she woofed.

Siveria's blue gaze shifted to rest on the white that was Verlust. A slow, small smile crept across her maw. "Indeed, Verlust. I must say, I never want to pick a fight with you again! I like having four legs, thanks," she laughed.
Not far off, unease pricked Sky's paws. She sighed heavily, knowing exactly why. "We couldn't send her to Hellfire because she's a Twilight wolf. Well, maybe she won't cause too much trouble." She padded over to meet her former foe. "Greetings, Verlust. Perhaps you remember old Sky from the good days?"

Verlust smiled. It was still creepy to see her smile. "Of course! How could I forget? How are you, Sky?" She didn't seem as if she were a threat. In fact, she felt lighthearted.

Aky nodded curtly and ducked away from the two of them. She had no interest in speaking with Verlust, or at least she didn't have to guts to at the moment. She felt if she had to open her mouth and speak to the fae again, only a snarl would emit. There had been enough fighting for the time being.
Rhain watched from far off, eyes narrowed to slits. Did Lupus know of Verlust's appearence? Did he care? Should she tell him or let him figure it out on his own? So many questions and no answers. She simply stood, rooted to the spot, hoping all would be all right.

A black shadow drifted among the trees. A lupine shadow. A black wolf. His massive bulk equal to that of a fine grizzly, Lupus weaved through the trees in search of his old companion, Riptide. Where did he run off t-- He froze on the edge of the forest in midstep, staring at the figure before him. "V-Verlust...?"
Verlust swiveled about with a grin on her maw. "Oh, hello Lupus! How are you this fine day?"
Lupus staggered back a step. "No... you can't be here..." He blinked. "...no..."
"Oh yes, love. It's me," Verlust woofed in a soft tone.
Again, Lupus managed to back up a pace. "No... right when I'm beginning to get my life back in order, you show up! You always show up!"
Verlust jumped to her paws and padded to Lupus' side. She rested her muzzle on his shoulder, her whiskers brushing his ear as she spoke. "That's not what you used to say, love..."
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" Lupus roared, tearing away and jumping to land a few yards away.

Fire raged in Rhain. In a blink, she leaped down from her perch and was at Lupus' side. "Leave us!" She spat, voice wistful and demanding. Her pelt bristled with hostility, and her eyes were imprinted with endless anger. "Now."
Siv rose, too. Out of the four, she was probably the most calm. Sighing heavily, she stepped between Verlust and Rhain and Lupus. "Verlust, things are not as they were, but you can't expect them to welcome you. Especially since you killed Rhain's parents and many close to them. I understand that that was a seperate life than this one, but most wolves around here do not. I picked up on that quickly. It would be better if you left Lupus and his mate in peace. But I'm sure you'd find Lupus' son quite to your liking. Probably hanging around in Hellfire laughing at Bloodsbane and---" "Did somebody say my name?" Death yawned as he approached, doing a double take when he saw Verlust.

Verlust laughed as Siveria spoke, although a tiny sliver of pain slipped in and out of her gaze for a fraction of a second when she spoke of a son. And then she saw Death walk by, and chuckled again. "What a lovely boy-- takes after the father?"
Lupus frowned deeply, staring at Verlust. For some reason, his mind wouldn't allow him to look elsewhere. "Yes, he does," he murmured slowly. "He looks nothing like his mother."
Verlust stopped smiling, reflecting Lupus' gaze with a strange intensity... and then tearing away to admire Death again with her scarlet orbs.

A flicker of grief fell across Rhain's face. "Redfang should've had a better life. She was a mere pawn in the old prophecies....at least she wasn't sent to Hellfire," She murmered softly. In fact, no wolf had seen much of Redfang. Even weirder, her eldest daughter, Lily, had not been see in years. No wolf knew what had become of her.
Death grunted. "Me, take after HIM? That's quite humorous," he snorted as if to prove his point.
Siv shuffled her paws uncomfortably.

Verlust curled her lip as Death spoke again. "What's so different about you and your father?"
Lupus completely blocked out her speech. His eyes were fixed on her. Slowly, he pushed past Rhain and padded to stand directly in front of Verlust, his muzzle an inch away from her's. He mouthed a single word, nearly incomprehensible to anyone...
But, alas, Verlust knew what it meant.
"No, I didn't."
Lupus narrowed his eyes. In a hoarse voice, he whispered, "I need to know this... Back when we..." He paused. "Was it true?"
Verlust reached forward suddenly, and touched her nose with his. After a second, she pulled back, her face as cold and silent as a skull, staring up at its gravekeeper with its pale face and vacant expression. "Lies."
The black wolf closed his eyes, and took a pace back. "I hope that old Beta of yours ended up in Hellfire," he murmured coldly.
"Of course, love," Verlust whispered softly. She shook her head, as if genuinely saddened. "Of course."

Rhain's heart sunk to her paws. She'd been a mere pup when Lupus and Verlust had been lovers. Her heart sunk even further, if possible, when she realized she had no place here. She'd been the end of their era. Backing away slightly, she faded in a haze of soft, Spring flowers. Only her scent remained, still thick in the air.
Siv looked up at her vanishing old friend with sadness. Siv felt out of place here as well. However, she didn't have the slightest notion of the pain Rhain might be feeling right now. She let out and audible sigh, and gusts of cold wind blew over the valley. Only one of Rhain's flowers remained.
Death frowned, and said nothing. "No. You're wrong, Siv. I don't like her. Not one bit." He followed Rhain in a similar fashion, minus the flowers.

Verlust and Lupus hardly noticed the other wolves leave.
"Why the sudden interest?" Verlust woofed suddenly, sitting back on her haunches.
"I've been discovering a lot about my past lately," Lupus growled. "I figure I might as well clear up a few things that used to really bother me in the old days."
Verlust was silent for a long moment, watching her claws. “Of course, love,” she murmured. “Of course.”
“Love?” Lupus inquired, scowling in disapproval. “I already have a love, thank you very much.”
“Very true, very true,” Verlust woofed. “However… you spoke only moments ago about past relations and of the essence of affection… It seems only fitting that I speak the same. Isn’t that right, Lobo Sangre?”
Lupus curled his lip and took a threatening step forward, shoving his muzzle in her face. “Don’t call me that, you cat.”
Verlust studied him with her red eyes, his golden orbs inches away, and revealed a soft half-smile. “Testy,” she whispered.
“Just because I’m not trying to tear you apart right now doesn’t mean I love you,” Lupus hissed. “I still hate you.”
“All evidence to the contrary, love,” Verlust replied, eyes flashing.
The black wolf’s pelt bristled, and he swiveled around to stalk off into the forest. Frame rigid as he walked, he paused at the entrance to the thicket. “Until next time, my pet,” he spat, disappearing into the foliage.
Verlust, apparently unfazed by Lupus’ words, examined her foreleg as she flexed her claws again. Ruby eyes slowly closing, she began to smile once more. “Lobo de Sangre.”
Lupus sighed once hidden behind the brambles and bracken… and straightened his posture. “Rhain!” he howled, ears going erect. He had almost forgotten that she had left.

Siv narrowed her eyes, wind blowing a tad colder. "Watch your step, Verlust." Was all she said before turning and vanishing as well.

Verlust didn't seem to heed Siveria's warning. Instead, she watched her claws glisten in the light, he smile slowly fading into an expressionless stare. "I hope Magnus is in Hellfire too, love." She slowly brought her paw down and found herself staring across the grass. "Hate and love... oh, such similar things..."
Lupus raised his voice and howled again, padding deeper into the woods. "Rhain! Please, come here! I need to talk to you! RHAIN!"

Rhain did not come. And Rhain did not answer. The forest was silent as ever. Not even a butterfly flew across Lupus' path.
