"Any daughter of Blood's is no foe of mine." At those words, Sanceul's sapphire eye flashed dangerously, and the growl that she had been supressing spilled into a deep rumble in her throat. "No... she may have birthed me, but she is no more my mother than you are a zombie. I may know her teachings, but see the world in the same light." Her ebony orb glittered with intensity, aimed directly at Regulus, just watching in case he tried something.

Regulus' eyes narrowed to slits, a his next words came in a deep, dark snarl, "She went through the pain of birthing you, amd though you disown her, I won't be the one to destroy her efforts. However, it's not so wise of us to have an outsider in on such secrets. I won't be the death of you, but I can garuntee you one of my companions will be." He smiled, an almost neighborly smile. "Eh. Look at it this way -- you've got a day or two left. Go have fun with that."

Sanceul snarled through gritted fangs. "Are you threatening me, then?" she demanded, digging her front heels into the ground. Her whithers spiked again, and her tail rose higher off the ground. If she hadn't been so furious, the scene of a small wolf standing up to a brute like Regulus would have probably been rather humerous.

"Threatening you? Oh, no!" He snickered, shaking his head. "No, I am informing you. Doing you a favor. Letting you know what's going to happen --- kind of like healers can see into the future and stuff like that. Letting you know your destiny," he shoke his head, deeply amused. "But you never did tell me --- who tried to tell you I was a zombie? Maybe I should set them straight, too." He flexed his claws idly, as if anticipating such a happening.

Ears flying back once more, she bared her teeth and spat, "I will tell you no such thing!" She swished her tail back and forth angrily, wanting to leap forward and tear at Regulus... but knowing all too well that she could never win such a fight. "Who the hell do you think you are, anyway? I don't even know you, you... err, whatever you are!"

"Not now, but one day, there will be none who are unawarre of my image, my name, my constant prescence, and what it means to wolven kind. I'm not just a wolf, you're right --- I am endowed with something much deeper. And you, yes, you seem like a brilliant wolf for my first test subject!" He snickered softly, a ravenous, deranged aspect entering his eyes. "There are forces at work here, girl, you don't understand. So let me ask you one more time: who told you these lies? Unless you wish to be the honored first taster of my new gifts?" There was no mistaking the blatent threat this time.

Sanceul took a step back, restraining the fear that ebbed at her senses. Her instincts screamed for her to flee, that this was dangerous. But she managed to keep her calm, and hiss her thoughts at Regulus. "Sorry, buddy. Try again another day." She retreated a few more steps, eager to put some distance between the two of him. She was beginning to feel extremely uneasy around this brute... What does he mean by gifts?

Regulus grinned widely as she backed away, backing away himself without another word. He was swiftly swallowed by the blanket of mist that hung around them, and he faded quickly from the clearing alltogether. However, a barrage of scents swarmed up around Sanceul after he dissappeared, including his own scent that seemed really only a few feet away from her -- the opposite direction of which he had left. Other smells that were conjured included that of burning hair, wild garlic, and blood. Among these, the burning hair seemed most prominent. "Like it?" Regulus snickered behind her, letting out a small snarl and knocking out her paws.

Sanceul squinted at the mist, every hair on her body standing on end when Regulus slid into the blackness… and suddenly reappeared behind her. Releasing a gasp of surprise, her legs were kicked out from underneath her and she collapsed heavily on her shoulder, with the rest of her body quickly following. She sputtered at the rank scent of scorched fur and blood, twisting her head to look up at Regulus. She wasn’t able to hide the sliver of fear that snuck out from behind her tough façade and shone brightly in her good eye. The other eye swept its gaze back and forth in frantic circles, and she didn’t know what to do. “…h-how…?”

The distinct taste of fire and smoke seemed to lean closer towards the clearing.... "How? They call me the Breather. If you want to know 'how', then ask them, 'them' being the wolves who did this to me. Then again, I'm not really sure who did this to me, so I suppose that doesn't help you. And really, you're just a meddling little girl who knows far, far too much, truly, so I guess it's just better this way, don't you agree?" He drawled, circling her. "I'm debating: I could easily kill you now and be gone, as it's clear I've already overstayed my welcome here, or I could knock you out and torture the hell out of you later.....and if I torture you later, I could probably get that name out of you that I wanted....yes, that sounds like a good idea...."
Weed had stirred now, hearing snippets of the conversation between Sanceul and Regulus as well as smelling was seemed to be fire. Alarm spread through him, and through it was agonizing to do so, he knew he had to get the the tree. If it didn't let him in, he had to at least wait at it's base --- he would probably be safer there than way out in the open. For Twilight's sake, run, whoever you are! He's gonna freakin kill you if you don't! He hoped privately that the female would have the sense to flee. "What the.....Annelise?"

Sanceul slowly withdrew her paws, bringing them up against the white fur of her chest before slowly placing them on the ground. She pushed up slowly, but kept her head down, knowing very well that if she jumped to her paws ready to flee that Regulus could easily take her back down. Now in a half-sitting position, she tilted her muzzle up slightly, glaring furiously at the wolf that encircled her... furiously and helplessly, that is. "I'd like to see you try and get something out of me, you crazy bastard!" She forced in all the bravery she could muster into her sentence, but inwardly felt the exact opposite. How could she hope to defeat a wolf with supernatural-like abilities?

"Weed? What are you-- oh, you're hurt! Get in here, quick! Regulus has been here for days with Arkantos and we can't leave or they'll see us...they have a lot of wolves set up here. Get in, get in!" The healer took a hold of her packmate's scruff and dragged him into the root cave. "OUCHH!!!" "Sorry, sorry, my bad!" She murmured apologetically. There was a strange dim glow about the underground den, even though the entrance was weirdly out of sight. He gasped as he saw Annelise full and frontal -- and was also surprised at the other wolf in the den. But right now, he didn't much care why Shade was there. The thing that was really biting him was... "Annelise....what happened to your leg?" "Oh....um.....about that....Snare, I think it was....she bit it off...."
Regulus snickered. "Sure, sure. What if I told you I would let you go free, right now, if you gave me this name? It's my curiosity that's really killing me. I want to set this wolf straight -- would you honestly give your life for theirs?"

Shade's ears flew up, and he leapt to his paws the second Weed entered the sanctuary. "What's wrong? Is he bleeding?" He flattened himself against the den wall to give Annelise and Weed more space, looking from wolf to wolf in search of answers. There was a concern and a bit of anger in his eyes as well. They were virtually trapped in this place, surrounded by undead killers-- it didn't exactly evoke a happy mood. Nevertheless, he was inwardly thankful that he at least wasn't alone... and that, most importantly, it was Annelise who was beside him. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
Sanceul's fearful gaze was snuffed out, replaced by an ever-darkening glaze. Softly, she murmured, "Trust me when I say that life matters a lot more to that certain wolf than it does to me... so I might as well do the best I can to keep my mouth shut." She gritted her fangs, coming to a full stand and curling her already damaged body to face Regulus. "But if you still wanna take a crack at it, go ahead. I dare ya."

Regulus narrowed his eyes at the female, a snarl curling from his maw. "Ah, life matters to them, you say? So tell me this: are they like you, random, lost descendants that are ungreatful for their high heritage, or are they, well, like me?" He grinned. "Are they a zombie too?"
Annelise shuffled her paws unfomfortably under Weed's gaping stare. "Weed, you're bleeding pretty bad from your stomach still, and that wound is deep -- I need to treat it. Lie down and we can talk about things later, okay? It's pretty easy to find cobwebs in the den, but I might need to dip out for a bit to try and find something to keep infection off---" "NO WAY are you going out there! Not now - Regulus is like feet away from here!" Weed choked, hysterical. "Okay, okay....I'm just saying I'll need to find something before morning, or you could be really sick. I wouldn't be surprised if you're already infected," she fretted, eyeing the hole in his gut with a disapproving glance. She rooted around the edges of the den, collecting pawfuls of cobwebs. "Annelise...Shade....the forest is freaking going to war with the Yozorans over you two! Well, actually--" "That's all right and fine, Weed, but listen: we're stuck here. It's hard enough to get food everyday, but Regulus and Arkantos aren't the only ones out here: Babylonia and Snare haven't given up the chase. There's no way we can--" "Wait: Arkantos--" "...is a traitor. He's the one who ripped you open," Annelise finished frimly. "....oh....but Babylonia...?" "...is most definitly around here, and is most definitly angry." She began to treat his wound. Weed eyed Shade, then snickered, muttering something only Annelise picked up. She drew back for a moment, glaring harshly, almost uncharacteristically at Weed. "Yes, Weed. Congratulations for figuring that one out." "So, Shade, you are aware of pack laws, aren't you--" "Weed, enough, all right?" Annelise groaned, glancing sheepishly at Shade. "He knows." "I saw you guys when I was hunting one time," Weed elaborated, yawning widely. Annelise shook her head, slightly disgusted at her nosy packmate.

The dark-furred wolf perked his ears at the word 'war', but compared to his life during the recent days and nights, the mention of such a thing wasn't so terrifying. In his opinion, wholly evil beings returning from the dead and slaughtering innocents was a hell of a lot more worrisome. Not like we have much more of a choice, anyway... And then Annelise was turning toward him, and as soon as two simple words left her lips, his ears were on fire. If he starts teasing me, I'm going to throw him back out for Regulus to attack, Shade vowed, knowing all too well that he would never do such a thing. Coughing as if to clear his throat, he woofed, "If you need any herbs, you could just tell me what they look like... I could go out later on and find them."
Sanceul narrowed her eyes and raised her tail in a silent challenge. "I forgot," she replied boldly, her monotone voice affirming that what she said was a complete and utter lie.
