Annelise shook her head. "That's silly, I'll just go out in the morning and find them. I'll be fine...." she hesitated, biting her lip and looking between Weed and Shade. "Does anyone else..." Weed grinned widely, rolling his eyes. "Nope. Kippy was the only wolf with me, and when I saw you two I kicked him out of the way and told him there were skunks about." Annelise snorted, exapserated. "I would thank you, but something tells me I'm going to have to treat Kippy for severe bruising when I get back!" She shook her head. "Your secret is safe, if you wanted to know," Weed continued, licking a bloodied paw. "I'm not like, devious or anything if you were wondering." "No, you're far too blunt for that....all right.....I believe you." Annelise woofed, clearly reluctant, but at the same time certain in her final decision. Weed snorted. "Not like it would matter if you didn't." Annelise sighed and peered out of the den exit. "Hey....is there another she-wolf out there?" she woofed, concerned. Weed shrugged. "I think so, but seriously she's not gonna fit in here with us," he grunted. "I have no idea who she is -- never seen her before. Smelled like a loner." "Hm..." Annelise slumped down, deep in thought. "Anna, you can't help everybody," Weed groaned. "I know, I know...." she murmured absently.
"Forgot? Well, then, I've no more use for you." And the brute lunged.

Shade lowered his head, clearly worried about the idea of Annelise going outside, even if it was during the morning. What if she doesn't come back? His fur bristled at the thought, but he shook it away long enough to nod a silent thanks toward Weed for agreeing to keep his mouth shut. At least we won't have to worry about that Shade thought with dull enthusiasm. "...wait... there's someone else out there?" Shade frowned, inclining his muzzle to stare at his paws. "...my thoughts are with her..."
The assault had begun. Sanceul knew it had been coming, but when the time came she still felt panic racing through her veins. She crouched and leapt to the side... but felt something graze her side. It was either teeth or claws (she wasn't sure) but it knocked her onto her side, shoving her into a roll that landed her back in the depression she had hid in. Weakly opening one eye, she uttered a soft moan and struggled to a stand.

As the fae struggled to a stand, Regulus turned and prepared to charge once more. With a raucous roar, he surged forward and rammed.
Annelise flinched involuntarily at the noise that seeped into the den. She turned away from the exit and entered the main den so she would not be seen if the fighting came too close. "What should we do?" she asked, voice weak, strained. Weed frowned, peering towards the exit. "I've no idea...." he murmured, thinking hard.

Shade looked to each wolf, and then back at the entrance. "...can you think of anyone that could help us...?" He knew all too well that he was simply firing shots into the dark, seeing as so far he and Annelise had had no such luck flagging down a single wolf, let alone one that could rescue a fae from a literally Hellish monster.
Sanceul felt her spine tingle, a numbness washing over her lower flank before she tumbled to the ground, bleeding from the maw from the shock of the blow. After a few seconds, the numbness was replaced by an agonizing pain that let her know that she had broken a few ribs. Damn... my.... size... Desperate now, she let out the loudest howl that she could manage, her voice strained and chest heaving with the effort. She could not do this on her own... ...at least Damien will be okay... poor bastard better have a nice time for all this, though...

A howl shattered the night --- a howl that seemed to have a familiar twang about it, but also such a desperation that Damien doubted it was actual the female that had originally came to mind. Moping along the Twilight Lake, Damien had come to the realization that, out of the two wolves in this world who knew of his existence, only one really tolerated him, as much as they got under each other's skin. And, though it left a bitter taste in his mouth to accept it, Secret Fang had probably run away from him and the packlands and headed back home to her mountain tribe friends. I should've never told her I would join a pack with her -- I can't join a pack, and she probably didn't really mean it anyway... His ears perked, and he narrowed his eyes as a curious scent came over the area -- that of fire and smoke. He set off at a swift jaunt towards the Twilight Clearing -- picking up the paste as a familiar scent verified the identity of the caller. "Sancuel? What the---no...." he froze, horrified. Sancuel was a bloodied, wrecked mess, and the wolf that loomed over her was terrifyingly familiar. His wide, muscular build had been something that had seen the flames of Hellfire. Not Tartarus, or the Zanna-Rossan pack, but Hellfire indeed. He remembered the bastard well. "I wouldn't do that, Regulus. You can kill her, sure, but who's to say I won't turn around and do the same to you?" Regulus whirled, howling in shock and allowing a severe, gutteral threat to slide through his throat. "You.....YOU'RE the one who told her....YOU'RE not supposed to be here.....oh no, we'll kill you, Damien, know that. Redfang's little puppet--" "Zanna-Rossa was an honorable wolf, though she made mistakes in her past -- more than you'll ever be!" Damien hissed, crouching. Sanceul, run! RUN! RUN! "We'll kill you, rip you guts out to bleed in the dirt, decapitate you, tear you limb from limb! We'll--" Damien flew at Regulus and slammed him to the ground -- the two brutes were of equal size, and Regulus, though more practiced, had never seen the blow coming. "BASTARD--" "RUN!" Damien growled to Sanceul, not daring to say her name.
"Someone else is there now, too -- a male, I think..." Weed woofed peering his head out of the hole. "WEED, get DOWN!" Annelise hissed, dragging him back by the scruff. Weed hit the ground and was momentarily breathless. He snorted, slightly irritated. "You move pretty well for a three-legged lady!" Annelise ignored the barb and swished her tail over her mouth, signaling silence. Her ears were trained hard towards the exit.

Out of all the voices she was preparing to hear in that moment-- either from a nearby wolf or Regulus himself-- the mauled, fox-like she-wolf least expected the familiar chime of a certain brute's voice... She lifted her head, both eyes staring in shock when Damien burst into the scene. And the first word that left her lips was, "No..." Now Regulus is going to... oh, damn it! Damn it all!" As quickly as she could-- and still watching the fray with huge eyes-- she half-limped, half-dragged herself away from Regulus. She wasn't stupid enough to stay and attempt to help. What good could I do? Bite his heels until he turns around and snaps my neck? But she didn't know where to go... and she slowly staggered blindly toward the direction of a tree...
Shade perked his ears suddenly. He swiftly approached the entrance, looking as if he were concentrating. "...I think I hear something..."

Weed eyed the gap and shook his head. "Okay, so when she comes in here, we're all going to shut up and sleep because there will be no more room to move, all right? Hopefully whoever helped her is big enough to fend for themselves or as small as a pup so they can fit in here," he woofed, though his eyes were enough to tell he was relieved. Annelise nodded without saying anything. "I suppose that's all we can do -- I used up the last of the cobwebs on you, so I won't be able to treat her until morning." Without really realizing it, Annelise leaned slightly against Shade, eyes intensely worried. It's a good thing it's him that's here. If it was me and Weed.... I would've said 'fuck this' and resorted to canibalism instead of risking my life to go out and hunt. Well...maybe not, but still....
Regulus stumbled and crashed to the ground, back of his neck impaled by the branches of a fallen oak log. He lunged forward at Damien, but was rendered imobile, casping in pain as he attempted to dislodge himself. Blood dropped like raindrops at Damien's paws. Damien gazed for a long moment into the eyes of his nemesis, but was distracted by thoughts of Sanceul. He turned away from him and headed to her side.

Shade felt gently fur brushing his side, and he had to cover up the smile the automatically spread across his face by ducking his head and pretending to sneeze. If someone saw you smiling when wolves are out there killing each other, they'd think you were freak he thought rather humerously. He made no attempt to move away from Annelise.
Sanceul paused in the middle of her flight, the hollow of the tree nearby so close, but yet so exhaustingly far away for her. And then, of course, she had left Damien behind... But when she looked over her shoulder, she saw him approaching her. She diverted her eyes, looking toward her truly blood-soaked paws, the scarlet only darkening the natural reddish color of the fur on her feet. She blinked slowly, and then murmured, "...thank you... but I was actually hoping that you wouldn't have heard my cries." She looked up at him again, her voice surprisingly serious and not critical. Then, in the midst of a second, she fell on her side, still looking up at Damien. She gave a shuddering breath before resuming a slow but constant breathing rate.

Regulus cursed from behind them, and Damien swiveled his head, eying the brute with a dark frown. "May I inquire as to why me lifting a fat-ass brute off of your paws was a bad thing?" he asked, making light of the situation. "Explain to me as we go -- we need to get you out of here...." he lowered his voice sow Regulus would have no chance of overhearing. "I know a place -- I'll carry you or something."
Weed snickered at the conversation they were overhearing, then eyed the closeness of Annelise and Shade. "Ain't that so sweet, the whole carrying thing? I bet they're a couple of love birds like you two -- and if Snare bit your leg off.....Shade carried you too! You guys should double date!" He buried his head in his shoulder so as not to alert the wolves above to their prescence from his laughter.

Sanceul smirked weakly at Damien's words, and tried to stand, but ultimately gave up and slunk back to the earth. ...great... now I need to be carried... Pushing thoughts of being carried out of her mind, she dropped her voice to that of a whisper, not wanting Regulus-- nor anyone else, for that matter-- to evesdrop on their conversation. "...because now he knows who told me about wolves coming up from Hellfire... now he'll try and kill you... and now you won't get your chance for life..." Her voice had lost its humor once more, repeating her more serious tone.
Shade slid away from Annelise, muttering in her ear, "Excuse me for a second," and padded over to Weed... and cuffed him softly over the ear. "Yeah, yeah... real funny..."

Damien frowned as he bent down, noting what appeared to be broken ribs on Sanceul. "Sorry -- I'll try and be gentle, but this might hurt a bit. And..." he glanced back at Regulus, uncertain. "...no words can explain my gratitude to your efforts, but really, Sanceul, they would've found out eventually...thank you. Now let's hide ourself before any of the other guys come out.....and I'll explain this in more detail when we get somewhere safer....I'm not sure how long he's gonna be stuck there...." he dipped his head and gently shrugged Sanceul over his shoulders. "Here we go..."
"They'll be fine.....I hope...." Weed sighed, settling himself as far away from the entrance as possible while also keeping away from Shade and Annelise. "We'd better shut up -- I dunno how bold that other wolf is, but I'm not taking any chances. Almost dying once is enough for me tonight," he murmured.
Annelise nodded, yawning slightly and settling down. "I hope he's gone by morning...."

"Yeah... by morning," Shade echoed softly, stealing one final glance at Regulus' figure struggling against the bushes before ducking back into the burrow. He settled himself beside Annelise, figuring that it would be okay seeing that Weed already knew about the two of them. He watched the entrance, wondering if the three of them would ever get out of this tree...
Sanceul uttered a soft and muffled gasp as she was lifted, but kept the majority of her pains to herself. Better not to burden him anymore than I already have she decided. And soon the cold, dead earth was replaced with the warmth of fur against her small body, and she felt her eyes close without intending to. Then, her voice distorted by Damien's fur in her face, she murmured, "Maybe they would've found out... but hey, I needed to try..."

Damien grunted and carried on, not bothering to look back at Regulus again -- they had hesitated for long enough and they needed to get out of there before any of Regulus' allies noted his situation. Damien took off at a swift pace, but was careful to mind Sanceul on his back. Sombody in Twilight, keep us safe, please -- we're marked, both of us. It's like we're screaming red targets...

Sanceul held on as tightly as she could managed with her paws and minimal strength, grateful that Damien was strong anough to support her weight... which wasn't that suprising, really, seeing as she was a feather compared to most wolves. She drowsily lifted her gaze to the sky above, and wondered where Damien was taking her. Well, as long as it's away from people like the guy back there, I'm not complaining... Knowing that there was nothing more to do but wait, she slipped into a light half-conscious state between dream and reality, being too weak to stay awake.
