Jolon ran, the grass getting smashed between his paws and the ground. His ears were perked and his nose taking in everything. His prey was swift, agile, and big. It's horns ripped the sky while it's hooves lighted over they cool grass. It was breathing hard with desperation. The run had taken it's toll on the prey. Jolon saw it in biting distance and leaped at it's flank, feeling blood ooze out and muscle tear. The prey kicked and before it could hit him, Jolon let go and kept going after it. The prey was an elk, full grown and now, with many wounds, had slowed down and turned flashing it's horns at him. Jolon growled and he looked down the elk with flashing eyes.

But, out of nowhere, the half-blind wolf struck out of the grass where neither the black wolf or the elk knew she was. With gleaming teeth, Vivi jumped on the elk, sinking them into its throat, happy that she had successfully hit her target. Backing away she waited for it to fall and bleed to death, and Vivichi glanced over a Jolon. She'd seen this wolf before, and it looked like he could use some help with his prey. But, little did she know that the elk was on her blind side, and it swung out, giving a huge blow to VIvi's side and causing her to collapse. "OOF!" It hadn't kicked hard, but it definately winded her. She couldn't wait to sink her teeth into it again. Vivi got up, wondering if the big black wolf had begun to stare at her missing eye, and the sour thought made her leap on the elk with raging teeth and claws. Once again she lept back, happy and satisfied, and she turned to look at Jolon. "Please don't notice my eye. Please don't stare at my eye. Please don't..." She muttered quietly to herself over and over again.

Jolon was just about to leap at the elk for the finish another pelt burst in and killed it. The wolf was agile while driving it. He growled in annoyance at the new comer. She'd stolen his kill! His black fur was bristling when he stepped closer. She was mumbling somthing under her breath. Something about not looking at something. This wolf must me mad to steal anothers kill! Even if were in the same pack she could have sent me a sign if I needed help. Finally, he had full view of her without the antlers getting in his way. All he saw was another warrior from his pack, teeth blood stained. A femme..yes, but a cocky one.

Vivichi looked at Jolon with a wide eye. "Hello." She said cheerfully but shyly. Her happy nature was hard to get rid of, considering that her whole life she'd been this cheerful. The golucky wolf looked the black furred wolf up and down, waiting for him to say something. Though it wasn't noticable, she was trying to see if he was staring, staring at her flaw. Maybe he didn't see it yet. Or maybe, maybe that day had come. When she would finally meet a wolf who didn't seem to notice her eye. Vivi shook it off. "My name is Vivichi. You may call me Vivi. I, erm, sorry about taking your kill. It looked like you needed help." She dared to look at him in the eyes. "Well, you can go ahead and eat. I'll go back to camp." Grinning, Vivi started to padd off.

When the wolf called Vivichi stopped speaking and looked at him in the eyes, his anger seemed silly to him. She was only trying to help. Her expression was as if she were daring him about something. To fight?! he thought confusingly. Finally, he understood after thinking about her for a minute. She must be daring me to look at her face. Why should I be upset though? In Jolon's old pack one of the elders had the same condition and he'd just grown up, thinking it was normal. Thinking of his old pack released tons of emotion. Anger, jealousy, loss...all the bitter emotions were swallowing up any form of love he'd been given. He then thought he smelt soot, ash,...heat from a raging flame. "Well, you can go ahead and eat. I'll go back to camp," Vivichi said with a grin and kindness toward him. As soon as he heard that everything melted away. Someone wasn't judging him about his past and just wanted to help. He didn't have to make himself known to be recognized.
Noticing the female start to leave he looked at the elk. She'd done a really good job killing it, the least he could do was let her eat of it. Besides he couldn't eat it all by himself. "Vivichi, you should have let me known you were going to attack the elk," he said in a growl when her back turned. "But, I'm thankful for your help. You can eat with me if you want to," he called after her, no trace of a growl. Jolon wanted to stop being alone...at least for once. Maybe she could help me with my dream. No one would look down at her again and she would probably like it.... he thought to himself.

As soon as Jolon started to speak, Vivi's tail wagged faster than ever. She was happy that he had called her back, and she quickly turned around, and all of a sudden, she'd realized what had just happened. She just killed someone's prey, walked away, got called back to share it, and there was no staring involved. Today WAS the day. The day she had found someone who would not look at her like she was ugly, crazy, or different in any way. "Okay!" She said cheerfully. "And please, call me Vivi." Her eye lit up, the golden iris gleaming like Michael Jackson's casket on his memorial. =) The gold decorative around her eyes were shining too, simply from the sun, and not only did she feel pretty, but she was so happy it affected her whole face. Even the missing part. For a second, she looked like a goddess, but it all went away in a flash, like it was just a hallucination. Vivi sat down, politely waving her tail for Jolon to start eating. "Erm, what is your name?" She asked, slightly amused that she hadn't been told this yet.

Jolon noticed her face light up and her tail wag. Apparently not many wolves were nice to her becuase of her reaction. he thought. As soon as she asked for his name he felt a growl coming on, but held it. All his life he'd been taught not to tell it to complete strangers, but she was part of the pack and what's more she'd told hers to him. "Jolon is my name," he said briskly. His name even haunted him of his past, always a keepsake of what happened. It also would remind him of his goal here in the valley. One he wanted to happen more than anything. He turned towards the elk at tore at the thigh and began to eat. Turning towards Vivichi he turned his tail toward the elk, showing she could eat with him without any agression.

Smiling, Vivchi started to pull on the elk's stomach, tearing the flesh with her razor sharp teeth. The meat was rough, but edible. After her piece had been removed, which was actually quite small, she started to devour it, but ladylike. ;D She couldn't go eating like a pig in front of her packmate. (lol) When she was halfway finished with her meal, Vivi said "Nice to meet you, Jolon. You have a, er, lovely name." Of course she was only trying to be nice, but it sounded a little strange. Not really caring, Vivi started to lick her paws, then her lips to clean them of blood. Both eyes closed, almost looking normal, and her tail moved along the grass slowly, in a paced kind of wag. "That was very good." She muttered to Jolon, still with half her piece on the ground. Vivchi stood up and stretched, then moved a little closer to Jolon and sat down. "So..." She said casually, "Whatch'ya wanna do?" Her eye lit up with playfullness, and her tail started to wag again.

He watched as she took a piece of the kill, surely not enough to fill her up. As he finished she said,"Nice to meet you, Jolon. You have a, er, lovely name." He couldn't help, but laugh once at this. A nice name it could be if you didn't know what it meant. Licking his muzzle clean of blood, he sat down and watched Vivi. She told him it was very good as she cleaned herself. "I'm glad it was. Thanks to you we could take it down." He noticed as she moved closer to him and he kept his fur down. She then asked what he wanted to do in a playfull tone. He cocked his head, amber eyes staring at her quizzicaly. What did he want to do? He hadn't expected this. In total confusion on how to answer he stayed silent, thinking.

The last thing she wanted to do was this, but Vivichi couldn't help it. With obvious amusement, Vivi burst with laughter. "Well, I wouldn't expect anyone to answer that question, but your reaction was pricless. Did you see your face when you cocked your head?" She chuckled. "Lemme show you what we did in the loner days." And with that, Vivi tackled Jolon, growling playfully. With her tail wagging she leaped off of him, then ran around him and tackled him again. But while she had Jolon pinned down, her nose to nose position caused her to look directly in his eyes. They reflected something, and when she looked closer they told of a past, a trecherous past that he didn't want to be judged for. Then, she looked again and they, so sadly, reflected the image of her own eyes, one closed and forever lost, the other beaming with amber and glowing playfully. It hurt, seeing a reflection of her eyes in his, and seeing the same feelings about their pasts. Vivichi flung herself off of Jolon, a harsh swing in the movement, looking frustrated and angry. Turning her back to him, Vivi closed her eye and whispered reasurring words to herself, sobbing pathetically. Never before had she cried, because her world had been filled with joy and happiness, not caring about her past at all. But her reflection in this wolf's miserable past reminded her of how much she hated her own, and how she hated being judged by it. Finally she had a friend, and for once, it was one who didn't stare, who didn't judge, because he hated his past as well. It was time to let go of what she held so secretly. Still facing her back to him, her pitiful sobs grew a little louder, and with a whisper she spoke to Jolon. "Do you know how I lost this eye?"

"Well, I wouldn't expect anyone to answer that question, but your reaction was pricless. Did you see your face when you cocked your head?" She chuckled. "Lemme show you what we did in the loner days." Then Viv threw herself at him then got up and pinned him with another tackle before he could react. Her eyes then looked at his and the emotion in hers changed. She got off in frustration and anger and turned her back to him. Jolon put his head down. She's seen something... was all he could think off. His ears detected whispers from this troubled wolf and then she stared to sob. It made him feel angry at himself. Why couldn't he control his eyes from showing his past? No wonder on his way to this valley any wolf he saw chased him away. Then her cries grew louder to his ears and it made him feel worse. Vivichi asked,"Do you know how I lost this eye?" It took him a while to understand what she had said, partly because it was a whisper and partly because he hadn't seen a missing eye. Then it made since. She'd been trying to hide a part of her face earlier. It didn't scare him at all. In his mind it had filled in an eye that looked like a mirror image of the other, shining with happiness and full of life. It never occurred to him why anyone would be scared. Of course not many had quite a past as his....
"No, Vivichi...Vivi, I don't know. You can tell me if you want to," he said silently and padded to sit next to her.

Vivi jumped a little when Jolon approached her blind side, only aware of him by the sound of the grass between his paws. She continued to stare at the ground, all view blocked from Jolon, his scent the only thing showing his presence, and she started to speak. First, she let out a deep sigh, and started to speak. "I used to be a loner. I never had a family, or any friends really, and one day when I was just walking through the loner terra... a wolf jumped out at me. He was scrawny, looked hungry, mad in fact. I wasn't ready, and he tore me apart. It's just so clear." Her one eye blinked. "I was scared, and he kept lunging at me, so I stood up and tried to defend myself. He took another leap, then I tried to duck and he toppled over. I thought he was unconscious, so I walked over to him, and he jumped up again, flinging his claws out and scratching my side." She flicked her tail to the large and pink scar that streached all the way across her side. "Then, when I fell in pain, he took out my eye." She closed her good eye. "I woke up later, and he was gone, and I didn't know what had happened. The grass was stained with blood, and I said, 'Why does my eye hurt?' I was so weak. I didn't know what to do, and I tried to rub my eye, but it stung and my paw had blood on it. It was then I realized, considering that I was right next to a pool of water, I looked into it and saw the hideous reflection. My eye was completely gone, and I didn't know what to do, so I started putting these special leaves over it to stop the bleeding, and luckily it healed. But now it's just a missing eye I can't open, and well..." She took a deep breath. "I have never wanted to tell anyone my past, it just haunts me in my dreams though. And when I meet new wolfs, which I love to do, they only stare at my eye. Sometimes I wish I was still the pretty fae I used to be, but I somehow kept happy. Still, I never lost my goal, despite how happy I tried to be. I always looked for someone, somewhere, who would meet me and look straight past my eye, and see my inner beauty. Someone who wouldn't stare. And then I met you and...." She dared to look at him. Her reflection in his eyes still glowed there, a past that they both refused to share. "You didn't even notice, did you?" She choked, not with sadness though. It made her happy, not like she wasn't, but it cheered her up, knowing that today was the day when a wolf would not only not stare at her flaws, but not even notice them. "Thanks..." She whispered.

Jolon noticed her startled when he sat and he realized he'd accidentally gone on her blind side. He then listened to her story with great interest. From the way her words hung sadness he could picture everything. She hadn't wanted to tell anyone her past and wished someone to not notice her eye missing. It seemed he was the only one who had not done so yet. Arrogant wolves in this valley... he thought to himself a little angry. Just because one did not look like you didn't mean to totally outcast her with your looks. Vivichi then asked him if he even noticed, choking it out with happiness. Vivi then said thank you and this was another first for him in this pack. Jolon nodded to her and said,"No, I didn't notice until you told me." He then got up and walked in front of her, looking into her EYES. "Your still a beautiful fae with or without scars from that miserable excuse of a wolf," he said. As he did he tried to hold his past from showing in his eyes for once. Never had he tried so hard...he just didn't want to upset her like it did to everyone. Of course no one knew his full story either. Just another loner to become a Yozoran with a bad past was what others whispered, but they didn't know the half of it.

"Thanks" She said sheepishly as he looked her in the eyes...eye and called her a pretty fae. The amber started to twinkle again, letting the happy spark come out of time out and fill up her mind. Pausing, and not knowing why, she wondered if Jolon would share his past. A quick shudder went up her spine though, because whatever was reflected in his eyes was something she didn't want to know, something he didn't want to share. It must be worse than she thought. But wouldn't it comfort him a little to tell someone what his unknown past was? Someone, if not her, because she had only just met him. Slightly starting to get bored and impatient, Vivichi flung herself into Jolon, hopefully loosing his balance, and ran away giggling. She stopped a little ways though, just to see if he would follow. "Well? Are you going to try and get me? At least try, not like you can." Her eye twinkled brightly with the pure joy of teasing him, and she laughed, waiting for his expression to change to the pricless face she'd seen before. Eagerly she ran away, then turned and started to run a wide circle around him, just to where she was a black dot. Her tongue lolled out of her mouth, and even though she had no clue if he would try to get her, the wind and the excitement of running made her happy enough. Nothing could make that day better, and nothing could make her feel more free.
(lol sorry about ditching you in the cbox. I never left, and when I tried to tell you you left. xD lol.)

He smiled as she said thanks then totally out of no where she lunged at him. His face looked just as it had before, priceless to Vivi. Jolon lost balance and righted himself back up then saw her egging him on. She then ran in circles, tongue lolling. Fine, if you want to play that way! he thought and ran after her. He broke out of his doubt and past..if just for a moment. "We'll see who catches who Vivi!," he barked. She was in his sight and so he pressed down on his haunches and leaped at her. She was the most fun he'd had in a while. Jolon hoped he could trust her more, soon. Then maybe she'd listen to him and maybe help him on his quest? It didn't matter now and so he put his grin on.
